FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Nobody needs a special license to conduct a truck load of dangerous cargo into your living room Mr. Formal. They need only hijack one and use it like a guided missile on wheels. Trucks are not all that complicated a piece of machinery. Just about anyone could pull that one off, and hopefully right square in your face and in the faces of all other Americans if they are anything like you are.

I think the suitcases are taunts. I also think that DHS knows this and knows what the suitcase taunts are really about. We here have been talking of a different kind of suitcase for sometime.

Sorry, I appear to have given the wrong impression here. I would not criticise anyone for defending others against personal attacks on the thread.

What I meant when I said I don't always agree with things here is that sometimes someone will post a far out thought and I'll think to myself "that's rediculous", but that's just my point of view. I would never dream of saying that and offending them.

POLICE SEARCH JERSEY WATERS FOR EXPLOSIVES

BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) - A 40-foot New Jersey State Police patrol boat cruised the murky waters along a concrete pier at the former Military Ocean Terminal at Bayonne Friday morning, towing a portable sonar device that scanned the waters and wooden pilings beneath them.

Two divers in black and orange suits were aboard, ready to submerge and investigate had the sonar picked up anything suspicious.

While there has been no specific threat against New Jersey ports since the Sept. 11 terror attacks, troopers in the state police marine unit and the agency's Technical Emergency and Mission Specialist, or TEAMS units, have begun taking a pro-active approach.
