FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Of course! If you look over the past 12 threads you'll see lots of fun poking holes at the EOM/Daleel posts and at ourselves...and it is good way to vent but it is necessary to consider the possibility in the serious light of current events in the "axis of evil." Somebody has to stand guard on the possible "dots" if a connection is ever to be made...and the folks on the TM are eclectic and proficient in that regard. Go orders have apparently already surfaced by the way.

In all fairness to the n00b, he is basically right. Still, it looks pretty disrespectful to come on and accuse us as a group for being chicken littles when it was only a few people who held such views. Not the best way to introduce yourself to the group. I like it when we get new participants, but you did come off a bit abrasive.

Watching the news last night a question was asked, 'How come the Nat'l Threat Lvl has not been raised to orange?'.

The response was something like:

We don't want to raise the threat level too early because the country can only stay at that level of alert for a short period of time, something like 2 weeks.

The gov't has stated the plans are in the 'operational' stage. That would mean that the 'go' orders were given some time ago.

Wondering: Would the Dept. of HS go from yellow to red and skip orange? What do you guys and gals think?

I remember that post, and I too thought it was a slight overeaction. However, sometimes in the spirit of diplomacy you have to pass these things over.

I generally don't reply to posts I don't agree with, and that seems to work well for me.
