FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Has anyone speculated previously that the "Black Winds of Death" is bioterror with Bubonic Plague?

Bubonic Plague is apparently called "the Black Death".

From the post above, where they supposedly found diagrams showing bio attack with high altitude balloons and plague/anthrax, it sure seems like this would be what "The Black Winds of Death" is referring to.

These people (AQ) are SICK to consider this and attacks like it on innocent people. After all, they won't accomplish SQUAT - except to create a really, REALLY pissed off bunch of Americans who could do just about anything in retaliation.

Maybe they underestimate our resolve and national pride. They must, because they have NO idea what will befall them if they should try a stunt like this.

Me either. For example, I still cannot entirely buy why they would have held off using the nukes. They have a great amount of patience and restraint, but do they really have that much? Hope not...

I'm not sure. I do believe that if they had nukes, they would hold off using them until 'the end.' It would likely be in the form of a multi-faceted 'death blow.' It is possible that they believed 9/11 would accomplish their purpose and make us pull out of the ME? Who knows...

i've always believed that the purpose of 9/11 was more of a feint, than a death blow. in a fight, it's common to lightly slap or hit an opponent, to startle them, to draw their defensive posture in a certain direction, at which point you deliver the TRUE blow to where they are vulnerable.

this is one of the first lessons i learned in martial arts.

the true blow has yet to happen to us...

FBI Makes Arrest In Amtrak Bomb Scare (Wisconsin - July 9th)

POSTED: 10:28 am CDT July 9, 2004 UPDATED: 11:38 am CDT July 9, 2004 News 3 has learned that the FBI has arrested a suspect in this week's Amtrak bomb scare near Portage.

Columbia County investigators say the suspect was apprehended in Illinois.

Detectives say News 3 cameras recorded images of the man Tuesday after nearly 300 passenger were evacuated from the Empire Builder train after bomb threats were made from a cell phone as the train was making its way through Wisconsin Dells.

It is now apparent that the bomb threat was made by the suspect on the train, News 3 reports. Link to Article

Outbreak at Yellowstone Blamed on Norovirus

By MIKE STARK Of The Gazette Staff More than 130 visitors and workers became ill in Yellowstone National Park in late June during an outbreak of a highly infectious virus at Old Faithful and Lake.

The cause of the illnesses appears to be a norovirus, a group of viruses that can cause stomach flu, also known as gastroenteritis. It's the same bug that has sickened hundreds on cruise ships and caused earlier outbreaks at Yellowstone and Grand Canyon national parks.......

"We're very nervous systemwide about this virus. Not because it's life-threatening or severe, but because it's so prevalent," said Charles Higgins, director of the National Park Service's Office of Public Health.

Meningitis Outbreak Widespread in W.Va.

Friday, July 9, 2004 · Last updated 5:19 a.m. PT HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Infectious disease workers at Huntington-area hospitals say an outbreak of viral meningitis is the most widespread they have seen in years.

St. Mary's Medical Center has seen at least 50 people who tested positive for viral meningitis in the past four weeks. Between June 1 and July 5, Cabell Huntington Hospital's virology lab had 60 patients test positive for the disease, which is much less severe than the potentially fatal bacterial meningitis.

Usually, there are no cases, said Anita Faherty, director of infection control at St. Mary's. "It's been a huge outbreak, something I've never seen in my 15 years of infection control," Faherty said.

Viral meningitis is an inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms include severe headaches, fever, stiff neck, drowsiness or confusion, nausea and vomiting. In young children, the symptoms may include fretfulness or irritability, difficulty in awakening a baby or a baby refusing to eat.

Here it is:

"I don't know, but I just got off a long phone call with my sister who lives on the Orchard Park/Lackwanna border (2 burbs) just outside Buffalo proper, and she says all the Muslims have basically disappeared. Stores closed, hasn't seen any in weeks. And Lackawanna had a big Muslim population. I didn't ask her, she volunteered it out of nowhere.

His message was quite direct: the reason for yesterday's terror alert warning was the fact that the gov't is aware that AlQ has at least 20 suitcase nukes located in the USA, and plans on using them -- soon.


Yes, we at TM have known about the nukes for almost a year, as well.

That is the only explanation that carries any plausability for me, too. al qaeda scared Russia away from Afghanistan (something they always brag about and with good reason, I suppose); then they watched us -- the other superpower -- cower away from Somalia and lamely respond -- if at all -- to all al qaeda's subsequent attacks. I can almost see why they felt 911 would see us in retreat as well.

BAYONNE, N.J. -- State troopers in New Jersey are wearing Scuba gear as they look to prevent terrorists from striking in the Garden State.

Troopers trained by Navy SEALs began underwater searches at the Cape Liberty Terminal in Bayonne Friday.

They checked docks and ships for explosives and other suspicious objects.

The troopers spent two weeks learning from the SEALs how to detect terrorist activity under water.

The troopers will conduct dives on a regular basis around the Garden State's ports.
