FBI urges vigilance for July 4
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Thank you relee for that info.
Back home for about 18 hours to take care of paperwork and then heading back to the family vacation.
Hope everyone is well.
JP, thanks for all the pings!
Trying to muddle my way through the end of thread 11 and then I'll try to tackle this one. :-)
Hi Velveeta.
Enjoy your vacation.
Except for the mosquitos, we're having a great time, thanks!
Anything going on?
I thought of you all often. I'm sooooo news deprived!
Yep, you just don't mess with Texas. LOL!!!
Hello, welcome back for as long as we have you.
Not that this has anything to do with terrorst but
was interesting. On FNC scrolling at the bottom it
was saying that 2 females and 1 male have been found
dead on Sam Donaldson,s ranch but that he co-operating
and was not a suspect.
Anyone know what's up with that?
Always something going on....
Here is the A.P. Report for the Sam Donaldson story
Published: Jul 7, 2004
HONDO, N.M. (AP) - Three people were found slain on a New Mexico ranch owned by ABC newsman Sam Donaldson, authorities said Wednesday.
Sheriff Tom Sullivan said Donaldson went to the house of his ranch manager on Tuesday and discovered an "obvious crime scene."
Once sheriff's deputies searched the area, they found the bodies of a male and two females, he said. Their identities were not released.
Sullivan said Donaldson was not a suspect and was cooperating with the investigation.
Donaldson owns three ranches in New Mexico and has extensive ties to the state. He grew up on a cotton farm in New Mexico and graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell.

(from BBC News)
The UN's atomic watchdog says it is confident there is not enough radioactive material missing in Iraq to make a nuclear "dirty bomb".
Vilmos Cserveny, a spokesman for the International Atomic Energy Agency, said: "We don't have concerns about any missing uranium" in Iraq.
Earlier, the US revealed that it had secretly removed more than 1.7 metric tons of radioactive material from Iraq.
Some nuclear material remains in Iraq under IAEA control, Mr Cserveny said.
"The remaining sources are not suitable for malevolent purposes," he told BBC News Online.
US Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham said on Tuesday that the US had removed 1.77 tons of enriched uranium and about 1,000 "highly radioactive sources" from Iraq's former nuclear research facility at al-Tuwaitha on 23 June.

From Miami Herald:
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A former Olympic wrestler who defected from Cuba in 1997 was charged Wednesday with committing airport violence by crashing his sport utility vehicle into a terminal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Alexis Vila Perdoma was charged after the FBI concluded he intentionally drove through two plate-glass doors at 45 mph and crashed through a Southeast Airlines ticket counter Sunday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. He suffered minor scrapes and no one else was injured.
Vila, 33, of Williamston, Mich., was involuntarily committed for a psychiatric evaluation after he was subdued by an air marshal and three Broward County deputies. He was turned over to federal agents Wednesday and faces an initial court appearance Thursday. It could not be determined if he has an attorney.
A three-page FBI affidavit describing the event offered no motive, nor has anyone else. Investigators found no skid marks where the SUV jumped the curb, crossed the sidewalk and crashed through the terminal until hitting a wall.
Several people were near the doorway but were not hit, FBI agent Rich Esselbach wrote in court papers.
Arriving fights were rerouted to other terminals for U.S. Airways, Air Tran and Bahamas Air, and outbound passengers were directed to a different security checkpoint for processing.
The crash raised questions about airport security and a 3-year-old recommendation to install barriers in front of the airport's terminals. County officials announced Tuesday that permanent barriers would be installed.
Thanks so much.
I'm trying to absorb all that I can in a short time.
I saw Stillproud's translation of the warnings and threats.
Do you or does anyone here know when Osama's "truce" to Europe expires?
Not in the northwoods of the upper midwest. LOL!
I did, however, see security today at a rest stop south of Greenbay. First time in about 20 years that I remember any security around.
July 15, is end date. You have missed alot but
looks like you are catching up.
Security at a rest stop...
That's a good thing for us; bad guys may not like that, though.
