20 to 40 Tactical Nukes Already in The US?
www.WSBA910.com morning drive interview ^ | 6/30/04 | Me: 7.62 x 51mm

Posted on 06/30/2004 4:57:05 AM PDT by 7.62 x 51mm

On the way into work at 6:20am, I was listening to local radio station, WBSA's (www.wsba910.com) Dennis Edwards, interview of Paul L. Williams, author of his new book, "Osama's Revenge: The Next 9-11", who said there are already 20-40 tactical (10 kiloton) nukes in the US, in major cities. He also said that in October 2001, George Tenet testified that he'd sent President Bush a memo detailing some of the information and the serial numbers of two (2) of the nukes.

Anyone else hear this? Really ruined my day, if true.

I'm in the York-Lancaster, PA area, and have seen numerous men in blue military field uniforms with NEST on the backs of their suits, over the past 4-5 weeks.

We have Three Mile Island (north) and Peach Bottom (southeast) nuclear reactors within 20 miles of my home and business, but otherwise this area is not a "target-rich" environment.

I did a Google search for that acronym and didn't find anything relating to Nuclear Emergency Search Team or anything close to it, after 8 pages. FR has a few articles in their search archives.

It's 7:53am as I write this. and the next interview with author Williams will be on at 8:10am. You can get it streamed over the Net. They also carry Rush and Hannity daily. Sorry I didn't get this on sooner, but I have 4 landscape crews to brief and get moving, plus the retail garden center staff to get started-up and moving by 7am.

If this book is even partially accurate, we have a major headache brewing.

No it wouldn't. Ten would be equal to a copuple of Hiroshima bombs. The retaliation would end the world as we know it.

Other than the dead body with open wounds and the bloody knife next to it, there is no evidence a violent crime occured.

Believing that these "weapons" are terrorist owned and operated is PRESUMPTIOUS! It is just as possible if not likely that they are state owned.

I personnaly believe that at least one fully operational nuke is in country. Kind of like having a pistol pressed into the back of your enemy. Plenty of enemy "states" out their who would do anything to hold that pistol to our back or help others do so.

Yep, and terrorists would never hijack planes, use them as missiles, and suicide crash them big buildings.

Or spend years planning and lying in wait for the right moment to unlease their terror.

Provided that such tactical nukes were made available, it would be very easy to get them into the USA. Is anybody checking barge traffic on our river systems?

20 suitcase nukes would equal 4 or 5 Hiroshima bombs. The RETALIATION would end the world as we know it.

Sorry for the double post. I thought it didn't go and wanted to correct my mistake of 10 vs 20.

I hear jimsonweed cleans wastewater from nuclear plants with no apparent ill effects! (The flowers are pretty and smell nice, but it would take over the world!)

Alpha particles would not penetrate more than a millimeter. A very thin metal shield could stop them entirely. You could store conventional high explosives next to an alpha emitter indefinitely.

The ordinary maintence cycle for these things must be several years. You could probably double or quadruple that before seriously affecting realibility, at least for terrorist standards of reliability.

Well, the good news is that the electromagnetic pulse would knock al Qaty Couric and Dan "Rather be liberal" off the air permanently. We wouldn't have to listen to them blame Bush and call him a liar over who's responsible.

They require ongoing maintenance and replacement of scarce material (such as tritium, which costs about $50,000 a gram).

Yes, I wouldn't think you could just leave them in a closet for a few years, and then pull them out..

It's not the alpha particles themselves that are the issue...

It's the heat they generate. That heat has to go somewhere...and the only place is into the explosives.

It would end our world as we know it.

I hate to sound callous, but this is not true. Twenty tactical nukes could take out the downtowns of twenty cities. This would be a harsh blow, to be sure. But it would not end our world as we know it. The country would survive. The government would continue. The survivors would go back to work, and life would go on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is not series. It would be hugh. But The United States is resilient enough to absorb such a blow and still be the most formidable force on the planet and the best country on the face of the Earth.

But the sponsor country, on the other hand, would go bye-bye.

"If they haven't gone off by now, they aren't going to detonate at all."

Which does not prove anything about future smuggling of nukes into the U.S.

I am most concerned about a nuke in a container at a major harbor such as Long Beach.

IMHO eventually such an attack is inevitable.

If OBL had a nuke he would have already used it.

Liberals are the ones who for years have been the champions of the terrorists - worrying more about their civil rights accidentally getting dinged than the safety of their own countrymen. They have hamstrung our intelligence and crippled our courts. They have systematically harassed any Republican who has the resolve to try to deal with these animals, and WILL be the reason an attack like this was able to happen, if it does. Yet they will balme intelligence failures of the Bush administrations. Failures caused by their own handiwork in preventing the CIA, Justice Dept., et al from doing thier jobs efficiently. The irony of it is that it would be cities that would be nuked into oblivion. Cities are known to be mostly populated by liberals. The libs will have brought about their own demise. (Along with a bunch of good people, too).

Wasn't it ABC News that did that experiment a year or so back.

They took a radiation substance (harmless, but still registered significantly on geiger counters, etc.) and had their plant-operative-tester carry it back and forth across the southern border several times over a period of time.

It never got detected by the Border Patrol.
