If there were no restrictions on age, weight, fitness, etc., would you sign up to join the War on Terror??
This is a vanity poll, due to the news today that the Army may be dipping into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. Several Freepers have indicated they would go if called upon, but they don't think they will be called due to their age.
Please post ONLY ONCE, and ONLY IF YOU WOULD GO, so that we can easily see the tally by looking at the number of replies.

Dog, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Coop, in our spare time, we could open a Karaoke bar in Wana where the only songs played are The Battle Hymn of the Republic, the Marine Corps Anthem, America The Beautiful, and Onward Christian Soldiers.

If America needs me at age 43, I am more than ready, willing and able to kill the terrorist phlegm-balls.

The best we can do for you is to tell you how grateful we are for your service, and to support and defend your mission however we can.

Blasphemy!! We must allow Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American," Charlie's "God Bless America Again," and Darry Worley's "Have You Forgotten?"

Yes, if only to serve as
jbeachgrl5's body guard. Why I would protect her at any cost, even if I had to throw myself on top of her to do so!

I wish more of my taxes went for his salary and equipment ... if they asked me for an extra $1000 that would go directly for that (and could be verified) I'd write the check. It's the least I can do.

I know that some of the branches have auxiliary units with no age limitations - that's a start. Is there anything else?Yes, contact military recruiters and bases near you -- they have needs requiring older more experienced minds. Ask them if you can submit your resume to them for consideration.

I am 51 and often wish I had stayed in for more than the 8 years I did. I was in the Air Force and when I was in, women couldn't be in combat. I would enlist right now if I could, although, I am a bit of a chicken. I hope I could perform when needed. I think I could.
