Update:

IRAQ HANDOVER 'TODAY'

The handover of power in Iraq is to be brought forward to today.

A formal announcement will be made later today, Tony Blair said.

The informal announcement was made by Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.

The handover of power to an interim Iraqi government was supposed to take place on June 30.

Mr Zebari said the deteriorating security situation in the country was one of the reasons why the date had been brought forward.

"We will challenge these elements in Iraq, the anti-democratic elements, by even bringing the handover of sovereignty before June 30 as a sign we are ready for it," he said.

He added: "We have made some very good progress in terms of the new security council (in Iraq) and the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people to take away the level of occupation we have suffered a great deal from.

"There are many Iraqis who are standing up to the challenge. We are here to seek more help and assistance, training and equipment."

I woke up around 3 this morning. I usually turn on the tv when I cant sleep but decided against it.

I had planned to start moving furniture into the storage trailer for my remodeling project. Think I will sort out documents from the attic in front of the tv instead.

Just said Saddam will be in the docket within the week.

NOPE! DO NOT GO TO BED!!!

You can go to bed after the big deal, whatever it is. I am skipping my morning walk until this happens. Hubby will have to go by himself.

We need alarms hooked up to "Breaking News" so we can sleep without missing anything!!

I just took a look at NRO's "the Corner". A couple of them have "checked with sources in Baghdad" and reported back: "...could not confirm whether Zarqawi was in custody, but suggested it is believed that the operations in question were conducted by Iraqi Security forces. "

There's still hope.

This may give us a glimmer of hope with the hostages taken. Iraq is a soverign country now, perhaps that will change the game plan.

Morning, Miss M..here's a question to ponder...will the Iraqi Survey Group continue its work?.. I expect so...assume that after the elections occur, a big find occurs..like a lab and a pile of WMDs?..any possible problems with security AND ownership..is it property of the new Iraq, to turn over to the UN?
