First they piss off the Koreans and now they want to piss off the Turks.

Not very sound strategery.

PS - I say they should capture a Ghurka just so they can complete their trifecta of folly.

Remember the rabid Muslims demonstrating in the streets? Remember the complete change of government to one willing to drop democracy in favor of Sharia? Remember the refusal to allow American troops to stage from Turkey in order to get into Northern Iraq, thus costing more lives? The Turkish government did a lot to help Saddam's thugs and the other terrorists, so what's the terrorists' beef with the Turks?

I wrote the US DoD that their people there lack a certain sort of "training," but they just brushed me off. A department that usually inspires such awe couldn't have become more stupid. They know everything better, those dunces..

I wish the coalition infantry there the best, nevertheless.. Not their fault. Hope they succeed soon, as unlikey as that seems..

But it is that kind that is spreading and causing havoc in Indonesia, Africa, the USA and everywhere else. Saudis have the oil money and with it can promote and spread their religion which is their nationalism and protect their terrorists.

There's one New Testament which Christians consider their holy book and many denominations. There's one Old Testament and three major branches of Judaism.

Your confusion stems from your having misread the facts. Your DoD would have had to enjoy the company of 80,000 Turkish commandos in Iraq, as well as a joint decision making structure. But they had to go it alone. Those are the facts.

I agree, they behead these folks and they'll have a large muslim nation turn against them bigtime. I say (as much as I don't want to see anyone else beheaded) let them try. If they do, they'll really anger the muslim community and they could turn against them.

Why haven't we found these people yet?

Because like they cowards that they are, they're hiding instead of coming out in the open and fighting like men

(A repeat of my favorite week's post for the weekend crowd:)

Civilization is at stake here. Nothing less. If terrorism is able to play a part in changing the world in this way, not only the Islamofacists, but the Unibomber types and survivalists" and even the NOW abortionists and hyper-radical Right-to-Lifers will employ the tactic. It is hard to believe that a country with the IRA's terrorism is unable to comprehend how terrorism which is so radical that it even uses kidnapping and beheading innocents as tool threatens our whole way of life.

We all must start using the word that best describes these terrorists:

BARBARIANS

Everyone must become familiar with this old concept, and realize it is now here and new again.

Barbarians brought down Rome.

Now, barbarians are at OUR gates.

They have been in existence since the dawn of man.

They now use our technological advances and our moral sensitivities to their own advantage.

This is the reason the Crusades happened.

It is high time Americans and the rest of the world understand this.

Our "thin veneer of civilization" will disappear if these barbarians are allowed to dictate on the world stage. For us to keep that from happening, we must steel ourselves to accept that we must be ready and willing if necessary to do what they did in The Crusades: "Kill them all and let God sort them out" with great apologies to those relatively powerless non-terrorists who live in their midst.

The Geneva Conventions do not apply here, much as any treaty never applies to those who have not signed that treaty or carried out its dictates. We must demand an immediate end to that discussion. We must also learn to accept that we must kill some who may not have been involved in the terrorism to get those who are... in fact, we may have to kill a lot of innocents.

We must start a discussion within the world community as to what constitutes appropriate actions now in order to protect civilization. In that discussion, we must attempt to get recognition that one part of the appropriate response is that any terrorist activity, or any support of terrorist activity, merits an immediate death penalty. We must accept that some innocents may be falsely accused and die, too. Perhaps this will cut down on seditious and borderline treasonous speech and activities, and this will help facilitate our winning the propaganda war. Whether we get this recognition from the international community or not, the United States must state that we are going to act in that way.

If we lose this war against barbarism, we face a return to a city-state or even lesser civilization.

The Middle Ages, and even the Dark Ages await us if we lose.

If we lose this war, we (including France) lose civilization.

FReegards.

You could say the same for Christianity and Judaism. Some are drifting off from the core --- like the pro-abortion Christian churches --- they aren't really Christian. I know Jews who eat pork and even celebrate a secular Christmas but they aren't truly practicing Judaism.

but Muslim or not, Turkey is a democracy

And only because Attaturk and the government place strict controls on Islam --- stricter than we do --- forbidding the burka and other practices.

Why don't you just stick with your relgiious beliefs instead of deciding who is or is not following the dictates of theirs?

Well, I should think it pretty obvious that the problems between Turks and Kurds made it impractical to send large numbers of Turk troops into Iraq. Need we tear open old, healing wounds?

I agree with you about the Saudis, at least a huge number of the Saudis.

I thank you for posting your comments about Turkey. I was pretty upset that they did not join us in the BASH*, but I completely realize that a democratic process led to that. Still, I think that led to an incorrect result, much as did the recent elections in Spain.

Again, thank you for posting your viewpoint from what I still consider to be a very important country.

*BASH == Battle Against Saddam Hussein... just one part of the WoT (War on Terror).
