Americans currently flocking to see Michael Moore's movie "Farenheit 9/11" might be surprised to learn how little respect the Democratic Party's leading propaganda-meister has for them.''They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet," Moore told Britain's Mirror newspaper recently, referring to his fellow citizens as a whole. And that's not all Moore had to say about his brother Yanks across the pond. ''We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don't know about anything that's happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.''
Turns out, when the Democratic Party's all-but-official filmmaker is speaking at home, he has nice things to say about at least some of his fellow citizens. But according to New York Times columnist David Brooks, when Moore travels abroad it's not just the Bush administration he trashes - but the American people en-masse.
Here's a few more bon mots from the Kerry campaign's leading celluloid supporter, as cited by Mr. Brooks on Saturday:
''That's why we're smiling all the time,'' Moore told a rapturous throng in Munich. ''You can see us coming down the street. You know, 'Hey! Hi! How's it going?' We've got that big [expletive] grin on our face all the time because our brains aren't loaded down.''
To a crowd in Cambridge, Moore intoned: ''You're stuck with being connected to this country of mine, which is known for bringing sadness and misery to places around the globe.''
Here's Moore's reaction to the 9/11 attacks, offered while the rubble at Ground Zero was still smoldering: ''We, the United States of America, are culpable in committing so many acts of terror and bloodshed that we had better get a clue about the culture of violence in which we have been active participants.''
As for the terrorists currently killing American soldiers in Iraq, Moore compares them to Revolutionary war heroes who fought off British oppression:
''The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win.''
Since Moore has much more contact with Liberals, it's reasonable to assume that's what he's basing his opinions on.
"In Washington, a Senate vote was delayed because so many Democrats wanted to see his movie. "
This is a little disappointing. While they may be wrong often, I generally give Democrat Senators credit for more intelligence than this. I guess it's my turn to be wrong.
"I think he should be insulted and berated at every possible opportunity."
I think he should just be ignored.
"Isn't it amazing how the left idiolizes this moron?"
That's becuase he makes the right so annoyed.
Sure do wish there were some vidios of these satatements that could be run in some 527 ads.
"After all, they pay to watch the crap I produce..."
He's a smart businessman. He knows where his bread is buttered. He can boost tickets sales in Europe by being 'rabidly anti-American'.
Secretly, at home, he votes straight-ticket Republican.
Good grief, if I ever agreed with anyone who exhibited as little class as Moore, I'd immediately change sides, just ASSUMING I had misfigured or misunderstood something and HAD to be totally wrong.
Ever since the dawn of powered flight, it has been necessary for all aircraft to carry onboard fuel - whether in the form of batteries, fuel, solar cells, or even a human "engine" - in order to stay aloft.
But a team of researchers from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards, Calif., and the University of Alabama in Huntsville is trying to change that.
They have now chalked up a major accomplishment... and a "first." The team has developed and demonstrated a small-scale aircraft that flies solely by means of propulsive power delivered by an invisible, ground-based laser. The laser tracks the aircraft in flight, directing its energy beam at specially designed photovoltaic cells carried onboard to power the plane's propeller.
"The craft could keep flying as long as the energy source, in this case the laser beam, is uninterrupted," said Robert Burdine, Marshall's laser project manager for the test. "This is the first time that we know of that a plane has been powered only by the energy of laser light. It really is a groundbreaking development for aviation."

...And among people whom Mr. Moore considers to be intellectually superior to Americans we have:
Like A Rock ! |
I saw him on Conan O'Brien last nite. Was literally repulsed by looking at him.
You know, I had the same thought. He is worse than Tokyo Rose.
And for him to make money off of his lies, while Americans and Iraqis are dying trying to form a government over there is absolutely putrid. He has so sold his soul to the devil, that it really makes me wonder how much longer he will survive.
Wrong, he votes Green. He voted for nader in 2000
Americans who go to his films are the dumbest people on the planet...
"We don't know about anything that's happening outside our country"
Hey, Moore, who the hell wants to know what's happening outside our country. It's mostly a cesspool out there and it fits your smell.
Just another in a long line of morons who cannot say what they really think while on US soil. They don't want to lose the support of those in the left-center who buy into their bull crap. Bill Clinton and Jimmy (MR Wonderful) Carter are famous for this.
A lot of Americians are dumb, but they're not the ones the slob had in mind.
Might be an essay in there. Find all or many of the political groups and find the big lie peculiar to each. The essay question might be something like: 'do political groups that tell different big lies share mailing lists?'
People like Moore reinforce the unfair and simplistic view of America and Americans which is now at its zenith. After all, rationalize the Euro wimps, if Americans themselves agree with us...
Moore is too lazy and too much the cheapskate to check himself into a fat farm.
That the Euros "eat up" Moore's vile rantings speaks volumes on what they've become.
