SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) - A teenage girl shot and killed her father Wednesday after he kidnapped her and two sisters at gunpoint and shot their mother in the face, authorities said.

The man was found dead in his car near a park about 30 miles east of Carson City, authorities said. He apparently had been drinking heavily and fell asleep, giving the girl the opportunity to shoot him.

It seems to me that if you have been kidnapped and are in extreme harm's way, as these young women were, shooting him at the first opportunity is certainly self-defense. If God is indeed in His heaven, these poor daughters will be praised instead of prosecuted.

This is Nevada - doubt there will be charges against the girl at all. She was protecting herself and her sisters.

A week ago, the 43-year-old Ball was released on bail on felony charges of sexual assault, incest and assault with a deadly weapon.

Now somebody should pay for THAT decision. Of all the people to let go on bail!

You are so right. Think the guy that let him out on bail is probably reassessing his chosen profession about now too.

No jury will convict her.

Not in Nevada. In fact, the DA will probably compensate her for the cost of ammo.

What a tragedy for these girls. First, their father was in jail for sexually abusing them in the past. Then, they see their father shoot their mother, they are kidnapped, sexually assaulted again, and one of them shoots and kills the father. Good God, these girls are going to need so much help.

No, they won't.
The child will be charged and convicted of manslaughter.

Welcome aboard - I know how you feel - I was awash in a sea of liberals - and I thought I was in the Twilight Zone. This was during the Clinton era and no one made any sense

Here I found some sanity and refuge with sane logic_

Look out...she'll probably be charged with 2nd degree murder, since he was SLEEPING.

It was in Nevada, so the odds in her favor are about as good as it can get. Nevada probably has the most liberal "he needed killin'" laws in the US. It is likely that this case could be framed justifiable by the DA in Nevada, even under the circumstances.

It's a good thing she killed him. When he sobered up and realized how much trouble he was in, he might have killed the girls and then killed himself.

You forget one thing, before you can be a judge you have to be a lawyer. In order to be a lawyer you need to be totally irresponsible.

"The child will be charged and convicted of manslaughter."

Here's what the Sheriff thinks:

"Detectives are investigating the possibility that Ball sexually abused the victims during the kidnapping," Lyon County Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Page told the Nevada Appeal. "There's no rhyme, there's no reason. This is simply the most evil thing I've ever heard of in my career." em>

They would absolutely never get a jury of Nevadans seated that would convict this girl. Ever.

This nation could use a good dose of the Nevadan mindset from sea to shining sea.
