Without the usual spin involved, I think most polls would look like this one.

When polls began showing the presidential race being close, while other polls indicated a vast swath of the U.S. didn't even know who John Kerry was, I began to have my very serious doubts about the current crop's veracity.

I think I see. I had to scroll the window down in order to find the "Vote" button. That actually requires (1) effort and (2) some capability, abeit small. They have evidently accidentally filtered out the Kerry voters! :)

While visiting the AOL page you might as well vote on the two other polls. Scroll down!

From one, it looks like over 52% of the respondents describe themselves as some form of conservative. The other one is about vice presidents.

i myself was shocked to see bush with almost 10 pt lead myself

Not me!!

I've said all along that Bush will win 53% of the vote.

When people get in that voting booth they will be voting for their economic and personal security.

I just voted for Bush. Still surprised to see him leading, especially with all the anti-Bush slanted news posts everytime you log onto AOL.

As unscientific as this is, it gives me some hope. AOL is a lefty haven. It seems all the anecdotal stuff points to Bush and the media-driven polling and "man on the street" pieces point to Kerry. Hmmm, who to believe...

I smell a rat!! The poll specifically states that results are not posted in "real time". Note that the percentages have only changed by one point as 30 times the number of votes is posted. I doubt this result.

What could really be going on? Perhaps this is an exercise in voting behavior rather than seeking a result. I wonder if AOL wants to find out what the results will be if the voting community believes that Bush is way ahead.
