THE HIP-HOP VOTE -- The Rapper Road To Armageddon?
ICONOCLAST ^ | By Hans Zeiger

America's finest advocate for "social justice" and "equality" is none other than Eminem, the popularly revolting rapper whose recent lyrics glorify such things as drugs, murder, rape, and other sorts of atrocious pastimes. Eminem is the quintessential homophobe and the quintessential chauvinist, but he is quite celebrated in the corner of the Left that had him as the keynote speaker for last weekend's Detroit Hip-Hop Summit, an effort to register young gangsta's to vote.

Eminem himself is not a voter, for he is a convicted felon. But that did not deter the organizer of the Hip-Hop Summit, Russell Simmons. Simmons created the quarter billion dollar Def Jam Records empire, built the rap music industry and helped make it into a depraved culture of its own. In 2001, Simmons founded the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network to harness "the cultural relevance of Hip-Hop music to serve as a catalyst for education advocacy and other societal concerns fundamental to the well-being of at-risk youth."

Ironic about the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network is that at-risk youth are at risk precisely because they listen to Eminem's music and follow the twisted social thinking of Russell Simmons. Of course, at-risk youth have other negative influences, but it certainly doesn't help things when Eminem is chanting, "B**tch, I'ma kill you, you don't wanna f*** with me!" ....

Well I am no expert but one of the very first rap tunes was a very long one called Rappers Delight by Sugarhill gang. It's from 1979. I never paid much attention to the lyrics but I found it something of a toe tapper. Certainly had disco hints to it as well. This is to some extent where it all began. Lyrics can be found here http://www.bus.miami.edu/~ldouglas/house/shill/rd.html

But he didn't ask for that????

I think you've come to the wrong place for advice on hip hop.

How about Toby Keith instead? You won't find any hip hop bands playing guitars like that.

I don't believe he asked for country, either.

Toby had a hit song called "What about Me?" in which he rapps out the lyrics. Good song and video. Have you ever heard it? Its kind of a crossover, I guess.

Isn't he one of those pig farmers from "AM" radio?
People used to listen to AM radio, before they discovered FM and the internet.

Rap sucks, but country music sucks even worse.

Glorifying ignorance and bestiality is not anything I wish to favor.

No, I hadn't heard it. I happen to like Toby Keith, although I'll be honest and admit that I don't care for country music one bit.

I have a lot of respect for him. He speaks his mind about his love for our nation and is definitely a Patriot. That I'll respect no matter what genre an artist chooses.

No he's not but he played High School Football.

BTW, Both Toby Keith and Ted Nugent are touring Afghanistan playing for our troops.

Yes, I know.
I even like some of his music.
I just object to country music in general.

98% of my friends disagree with me on this, but fortunately our common ground overrides this.

I hate talk radio, too. Bunch of pig farmers.

Fair enough. I'm not the biggest Country Music fan in the world but in general they seem to be more pro-American.
