I bet Rush knows a few skeletons too. She better remember not to burn her bridges at this stage of the divorce. Silence is a valuable commodity and if she squanders it, only her lawyer will win. (she should hire a publicity averse lawyer. PR is her enemy and could take a reasonable settlement and turn it into a finacial fiasco for her.)
I guess you don't listen to Rush very often. His opiate addiction stopped last year. Hydrocodone and all the next things for his 3 bad spinal disks. Vioxx is what he's taking now for pain- non-addictive. My own mother took concentrated opiates for pain until she cleaned her body up from all the chemicals. It's very easy for all of us to fall into that trap if we don't pay attention to what we take, trust me. It's sad. Very sad.
So is the press statement released by Rush a bunch of crap to or only the NY Post Article?
I only posted because everyone here was speculating about the whys, etc. Rush only released statement after it was leaked -- read the last sentence. I do not get any joy out of anyone's misfortunes. It's a shame that some things can't be kept private because of the public records law. You can ask for special "treatment" and have records sealed, but do you think anyone in Palm Beach County would do that for Rush?
The New York Post/Gossip section prints more truth than the NY Times IMHO. Probably, because they can get sued.
Timing is everything---Speaking of trash..I suspect we'll find out that the Enquirer or the Globe was getting ready to break the story. Maybe Rush beat them to it :~)

You are never cured of opiate addiction. He went into rehab less than a year ago. Reovery is an ongoing process. If you listen as much as you say you do, then you'll remember that he said that a few times over the years he has struggled with the addiction, even going to quickie-detox programs. What I'm saying is that living with an addict is not easy. He probably promised to stop many times and then returned to using. It's an issue of trust and everyone has their limits. Sounds like Marta reached hers.
She had some Liberal professors that drove her crazy about politics, etc., Marta contacted Rush and the rest is history.
That's how I recall Rush telling the story on his show shortly after they were married...started with exchanging e-mails.
Didn't he lose the weight about the same time he met Marta? And she's an aerobics instructor?
I have the feeling Rush is a world-class addictive personality - cigars, food, drugs. Who knows what else is there? Then they try to turn over a new leaf. For a while you succeed, but if you don't work at it every day, back you slide.
But as I said, this is just a guess.
Time will tell but Marta is not going back to poverty after riding on Rush for 10 years....
I hope she has some class not to but the society we live in today tells me different.

Navy, I wasn't blaming you. I agree Rush's action was probably tactical, but I think he could have waited until today at least, being that it was Reagan's day yesterday, and we were all in a deeply moved state.
But what do I know? Just my impression. I wish them all well.
