WIFE DUMPS BLOWHARD RUSH
The New York Post ^ | June 11, 2004 | Richard Johnson

RUSH Limbaugh put out a statement yesterday that he and his third wife, Marta, had separated — but only after PAGE SIX called to confirm what we'd learned exclusively. Sources in Palm Beach say Marta dumped the burly blowhard and vacated the couple's home on North Ocean Boulevard. The two are quietly working out a divorce agreement. Limbaugh met Marta on the Internet and they married in 1994. Since

Perhaps you should sell yourself out as a "consultant". If you are as "cutting edge" as you claim, you should be able to earn as much as Rush has, easily.

But, then, I sincerely doubt it.

Wow, pretty deep. What if you don't think Dr. Laura isn't a hypocrite, just a shrivelled, shrill, old harpy who's connections to humanity are strictly coincidental.
She's a hypocrite because she couldn't maintain a relationship with either her mother or her daughter.

Why are you so bitter? Has a woman done you wrong?

Since when did Dr. Laura have a daughter?

Dr. Laura's mother was the one who opted for the separation, not Dr. Laura.

"..and even if they signed a pre-nup, does the money he made after that (the $250 million dollar contract he signed a couple of years ago) belong to both of them equally? Or can each pre-nup be specifically worded that excludes future earnings?"

Lord, have mercy, Girl...You'd just love for this man to go broke. It would make your day. And you preach about "values"? Give me a break.

There must be some sort of agreement. I just hope his legal problems never see a court room. If she's not his wife, can't she testify against him, or is the spousal privilege intact if you are questioned about things that happened while you were married. (Things I never want to find out on my own.)

A wife CAN testify against her husband, or a husband CAN testify against his wife. However, neither can be COMPELLED to testify against the other.

As for the situation after the divorce, I'm sure that the "agreement" will preclude her testifying against him. I don't know what the mechanism would be, perhaps the 5th Amendment.

It may cost Rush a bit, over and above the pre-nupt, to insure her silence, if it is necessary, but I'm quite sure that he will be well taken care of.

I don't think it is all Marta's fault anymore than I think it is all Rush's fault. Personally, I wasn't there, will never be there and can not know the whole story. So, I have decided to not form any opinion at all. I do have one speculation; I would be willing to guess whatever happened has something to do with this investigation in to Rush's alleged Doctor shopping. My saying that is not assuming Marta is completely to blame.

Who knows? I just hope that it's amicable, and that the situation remain PRIVATE and that Rush finds the kind of love and companionship everyone deserves.

I'm glad Rush is who he is and doesn't try to make everyone happy. In therapy, Rush learned that he couldn't make people happy, that people are in control of their own happiness.

I am sure he probably talked about his "therapy". He was miraculously cured, and blessed by his atty. I was not in therapy with him, and have no real knowledge of the procedures involved, but.... I found out those things when I was a little child. I think every adult should, but some children never grow up emotionally! His life patterns relay that message.

I am a 56 yr old, married to a 33 yr old for almost 4 yrs now, after a failed 23 yr marriage. I think his stint with oxycontin and whatever else he used, made it difficult to perform in some ways... and a 33 yr old commands performances, believe me!!! (No viagara yet!!!)

Just because he filed papers does not mean he is the offended party. I do not know FL divorce laws, but most states have no fault procedures... and she may not have wanted to spend her share on some extra filing and atty fees... or he just wanted to be able to say "I filed", so he beat her to it!!!

I do not understand how the supposed "conservative" supporters of Rush are so willing to believe everything he says about his current situation, and not hold him accountable for his misdeeds... Of course, the same could be said of Bill Bennett and his gambling binges. I think of Jimmy Swaggart, and other famous debauchers...It is unreal how these folk hold everyone to a different standard, than that which they themselves are willing to uphold! And the sheeple think they are just great, and polish the pedestal for them to sh*t on!!

I prefer to put my faith in God. I admire men and women of principle, and hail our serving military, but draw short of making this talk show guy into anything other than that, a talk show guy. He is merely another celebrity. You agree with his message. Me too, most of the time. But he is just a messenger...!

I agree with your comment here. This is private. We here on Free Republic, or anyother information outlet for that matter, really have no business discussing this issue because we do not, and will not know the whole story.

Don't think Laura has/had a daughter. My memory certainly can be faulty, but a daughter didn't show up while googling...not even on hypocrite.com. What's the daughter's name?

Last Friday, in Rush's praise of Nancy Reagan, he talked on and on about how faithful and devoted she was to Ron. He also talked about Dr. Laura's new book "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands," and how husbands need to be supported by their wives instead of dissed and criticized.

If he did leave Marta, it would fit with a common scenario. A husband has a crisis (often medical) in his middle years. He has a lot of time for reflection as he recovers. He realizes that his wife is not giving him the support he feels he needs, and he reevaluates his life and decides that he no longer wants to be married.

The truly sad part about most divorces (at least the ones I've seen) is that the couple has just as many problems as they had before. They may be different problems, but they aren't any happier than they were before the divorce.

In her newest book, Schlessinger relies upon her experience in private practice, radio and letters she received from men and women in tackling the issue of women who mistreat their men and suffer the consequences of unhappiness. The women who criticize their husbands in the stories that Schlessinger relates are depressed in their marriages and feel little love from their husbands. Unabashedly asserting that man is a "very simple creature," who needs only "direct communication, respect, appreciation, food, and good loving'" to respond with devotion, compassion and love, this controversial marriage and family therapist claims that every woman can achieve a deeply satisfying marriage if she adheres to certain fundamentals men require. Preparing dinner, caring for the children without complaint, greeting her husband with a kiss and engaging in sexual intimacy instead of "tearing down a husband's necessary sense of strength and importance" can result in the harmonious marriage women crave.

I don't know her name but it came up when they found her mother dead in her apartment. That's when my impression of her really went south.

I agree with everything you just said. However, I am inclined to think there is more to this than support or non-support.

My prayers are for both Marta and Rush. Divorces, as you so aptly pointed out, generally do not solve any of the problems that brought about the divorce. Both parties usually end up carrying that baggage much longer by themselves than they would have, had they just buckled down, pulled up the boot straps and faced whatever the problem was together.

The name mentioned is "Cynthia" & that is Dr. Laura's sister, NOT her daughter. Dr. Laura is also rather estranged from her sister. Read it again. :)
