WIFE DUMPS BLOWHARD RUSH
The New York Post ^ | June 11, 2004 | Richard Johnson

RUSH Limbaugh put out a statement yesterday that he and his third wife, Marta, had separated — but only after PAGE SIX called to confirm what we'd learned exclusively. Sources in Palm Beach say Marta dumped the burly blowhard and vacated the couple's home on North Ocean Boulevard. The two are quietly working out a divorce agreement. Limbaugh met Marta on the Internet and they married in 1994. Since

I knew a gal who was divorced 3 times by the time she was 36! I quietly stepped aside and looked around for the highest hill:):)

He has so much money that having half as much doesn't mean much. Pay attention boys: PRE-NUP, PRE-NUP, PRE-NUP!

After 30 years, I think a woman deserves half of what the marriage has accumulated. Don't you?

Not unless she earned half the money.

To be fair, Rush took great pains to say that Marta requested that Rush clarify that he filed for divorce. He said it that way twice. Previous comments from him suggest that he's bitter about the marriage. It sounds like a very complicated situation.

I theorize that he's a romantic and expects far too much out of his wife and out of marriage in general. It's possible to spend the rest of your life with someone who does things that annoy you.

I suspect they agreed it looked better for him to say he asked for the divorce.

Maybe. Rush wouldn't want a fight. If there were a pre-nup, it wouldn't matter. His lawyers are smart enough to know if his conceding this point would lead to problems in the divorce itself.

Rush is a big-picture guy. I theorize that he's in love with love. When he and Marta first married, I could barely stand all the syrupy "hi sweetie" stuff, and her calls to him while he was on the air. That's high school infatuation stuff. Rush was 43 years old, had changed a country with his ideology, and was gurgling over a female like a love-struck teenager. That's why I say he's an emotional wreck when it comes to women. He's stuck with an adolescent view of them.

It's possible to spend the rest of your life with someone who does things that annoy you.

Well, I wouldn't know. I'm lucky enough to have married a woman whose major gripe in life, after 27 years, is that she doesn't have enough time or space to plant more rose bushes.

Yes. That's a better way of putting it.

See? And you manage to cope . . .

He was a boon to the conservative movement, but his value is becoming iffy.

Why? He's a human being, with human frailties, not a Trappist monk.

True, it's hard for me to fathom being married three times (or even twice, for that matter), but his conservative political ideology has fortified millions of us, and will continue to.

I don't have to imitate his lifestyle, and, frankly, wouldn't want to.

I'm very sorry for both of them. The end of a 10 year marriage is terribly difficult, no matter what the situation.

I don't know why you sound so harsh about Rush, but you do. However, re: my case I was out of the country. I didn't know all the information and I hadn't discovered FR yet. Many others probably did not either. I appreciate truth from where ever I get it, and I respect Rush. There's no need to put him down because he doesn't break every news story. He has his own show and people may tune in or not as they see fit. I admire him for having the heart and brains to succeed. God bless him!

You've obviously had "enough" of Rush..so just tune him out.

I haven't. I don't care what he failures he has had in his personal life, as long as he continues to get behind that Golden EIB microphone and give ME the strength to get thru the most visceral decade of politics we have ever witnessed. Rush is more than just the voice of conservatives..he is an entertainer and makes me laugh. God, it's so good to laugh these days...

People with less money than Rush, have found themselves in worse positions. Rush earned every dime he has---honestly. As far as touting his own horn, Rush doesn't hold a candle to one Donald Trump, who the public has come to embrace.

The Rats would love nothing better than to silence this man. He's their number one enemy. Why are you helping them out?

He's done nothing to harm me..So he disappointed you? Big deal. I don't cut my own friends loose when they disappoint me, I stand by them..just as long as they don't hurt me or my family.

That's the way I was raised...

Just a general question to anyone. If Florida is a community property state, and even if they signed a pre-nup, does the money he made after that (the $250 million dollar contract he signed a couple of years ago) belong to both of them equally?

Basically, a well written pre-nupt, if both have had independent counsel, will hold up in any state. I speak from personal experience.

That's not to say that "she" may find a barracuda lawyer who will try to get more, but I doubt that many do. The "barracuda" just eats up a good part of "her" part.

Radio works on numbers. The viewers made Rush rich because he was saying what we wanted to hear. WE paid for his 24 million dollar house. WE paid for his plane. WE paid for all his luxury cars. WE paid for his lackeys. WE paid for his lavish lifestyle. And WE paid for his drugs.

Unless you have bought something from one of his sponsors, YOU haven't paid for anything that Rush has EARNED.

Just what in the hell did you pay? Listening? Maybe you should have switched to some acid rock, and maybe you wouldn't be so pissed.

There must be some sort of agreement. I just hope his legal problems never see a court room. If she's not his wife, can't she testify against him, or is the spousal privilege intact if you are questioned about things that happened while you were married. (Things I never want to find out on my own.)
