Ah, but that is disappointing....

I shall console myself with the knowledge that some persons mature much later than others. Maybe Ron will live up to the impossibly high bar his father left.

While George Walker Bush isn't Ronald Wilson Reagan, he has the spirit in him to be very similar. He knows what Ronald Reagan did, and is trying to live up to the standard.

My heart goes out to Nancy, knowing what great sense of loss she must feel. Few people in history have changed the map to the degree that Ronnie has; have changed the world for the better as RW Reagan did.

Thanks Nancy, for allowing us to partake of your husband's greatness, his compassion for humankind. He was the first compassionate conservative, and we are all immeasurably better for it.

The AP photo caption simply states that it's along the motorcade route taken today to The RRPL.

Have you all noticed how this President (GWB) says nothing disparaging of his scumbag opponents...but his scumbag opponents can't help but lob insult after insult at him?

I am sorry...I am not as forgiving of Ron Jr......What does it say that I did not think of Politics all week and the daily political combat of Washington D.C......and low and behold the SON of the man I fashioned MY political beliefs from goes OUT OF HIS WAY AT HIS FATHER'S INTERNMENT to attack the standard bearer and err....pssst...Ronald Reagan clone GWB......

The service was ruined for me.....

Sorry if I went on a rant...But I am a little upset.

RANT OVER.

Clinton seemed to be introducing Kerry around to world leaders so he can say he met them.

I hope no one finds this morbid, but I find myself being intensely curious as to exactly how Reagan's coffin will get inside his tomb. There was no apparent entrance and they cut off the cameras before the actual internment. Other people I watched the service with were also curious about this.

don't be fooled - when Clinton dies, there will be similar large ceremonies like this. he cannot be denied, he was President for two terms. and people will come to pay their respects, it won't be any of us, but there is a whole other America out there.

Oh I don't know. Some might show up just to comfort themselves that he has finally hogged his final photo op ;-)

We were talking about this very thing, and my oldest said they'd probably pay people to show up. That's probably why Bill and Hill were so sleepy. They were developing strategy. No seriously, that actually crossed my mind earlier today. This is a serious disaster for them.

Oh good. Thanks for clearing that up. I was unsure but she could've at least been a cousin to Karpinski. :o)

Ron has not just uttered a casual word for the moment; but made a choice for a word designed for assault against a man who delivered a beautiful tribute to his Father; and whose Father did the same. This choice is now cast forever in a history.

You are absolutely right. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but when I read your post, I stopped and thought about it. I went back and pictured his face when he said it. He did indeed do it deliberately.

He must have a very ill soul.

This eternal optimist is not so sure -- there producers and directors there as well. Not all of Hollywood is leftist if you remember from the Academy Awards when the fat pig made his comments, pretty soon the directors and other people behind the cameras struck back for our military.

Well if there's any doubt in anyone's mind what the comment was intended to do...looks like we'll get a chance to see a replay of it on Fox.

Howie Fineman and Chrissy Matthews on pMSNBC pointed out that the comment might have been a dig at Michael, and not necessarily W...and that came in the context that Ron P. (not a junior) was the liberal voice of the day...

Exactly. The crowds have been huge. It's too bad someone without an axe to grind could give a grand total of all the mourners for the entire week.

I'd guess over a million.

Marcellus, out of Syracuse, New York, is no longer in business, but I suspect the Reagan's both bought these caskets years ago, and they were set aside.

I worked for a funeral home in Fort Worth that offered these beautiful hardwoods, and I recognize a Marcellus immediately.

Nobody else built a casket with those crowns at the end, and the flat top.

All hand done.

What was the purpose of the ear lobe story?
There are thousands of stories that could have been told.

And it is going to go down in history that they talked about his ear lobe fetish at his funeral...

I told some people that the RATs will do like they do for campaign rallies -- bus in union people and give them a box lunch to show up for Clinton's viewing. I would be willing to guarantee the number of military going through will be almost nil.
