Definition of irony. Ronald Reagan presided over the Screen Actors Guild and is responsible for the RESIDUAL structure which pays actors for work on television.
These very actors who hated Ronald Reagan so much, owe their ongoing livelihood to him. And yet, only 4 actors went to pay their respects to him when he lay in repose in Simi.

One thing I've always loved about him was the way he could do all the pomp and ceremony of the Presidency and yet still be a kind and humble man. Something a nouveau-riche creep like Kerry could never do. He REALLY understood the importance of symbols and ceremony and restored the lustre of the Presidency, but remembered that in the end it is people that matter and the rest is all just playing dress-up.

I have to admit, I'll be glad to get through a day without hearing "Ruffles and Flourishes" followed by "Hail to the Chief" at this point.
The entire ceremony, beginning in California through today has been magnificent, and appropriate. I'm glad "We the People" have witnessed it all.

One question of decorum, please. On the Memorial Thread do we have to change our taglines to conform to the seriousness of the occasion? someone really needs to come up with a Serious Only Thread plan.
