Alot of dignataries are now showing up to pay respects. McCain, Guiliani, Gorby, Karzai, etc.
Cspan has live coverage. Bush expected at 7 but could be earlier? He is then going to visit with Mrs. Reagan.
Guard changes about every half hour at .28 and .58 of the hour. One is going on right now.
I doubt he thinks he is ever going to die.
It will have to be a plan because I doubt that anyone would come just because they thought Bill Clinton was great. By the time he lays there I doubt anyone even remembers who he was or for that matter cares. If Hillary runs for president they will make even more "friends" into enemies. They couldn't pay me to visit him.
Maybe Ted's own mortality rose up & smacked him in the face...it has to be a burdensome thought for the man. Then again, he may be remembering Jack's funeral & would rather not.
I do pretty good until I see the military salute -- that really gets me. Who would have thought we could sit hear watching people go through the line hour after hour.
A lot of AF types showing up now. The lady LC has wings!
My two Senators had comments in the paper and Sen Nickles was the funniest. He said when he was first running for Senate in 1980, President Reagan came to Oklahoma up for a rally. He wanted to know what to say and Sen Nickles told him to just wing it. President Reagan then asked the people of Oklahoma to send Don Rickles to the Senate -- he said for years people would jokingly call him Don Rickles.
He probably thinks that if he has the same elements he will have the same public reaction.
I predict the berrette will be the female fashion statement for his viewing.
Nor can I imagine the emotion of the military personnel who have the honor of standing guard over President Reagan lying in state.
Several times in D.C. was able to see the caisson carrying someone for burial. Nothing could compare to what I have seen on TV these last few days.
Definitely. The grandeur, pageantry, decorum, etc. have been breathtaking and very emotionally moving. The tears have flowed. I plan to visit the Reagan Library someday and pay my respects at the grave site.
Then maybe you should tell that to the person who brought it up first. I really don't need you to "scold" me today.
Thank you! I absolutely didn't recognize him.
Bless his heart.
Dole doesn't look too bad considering his age. He does have
a "1000 yard stare" in that pic though; a solemn moment for him.
It is amazing huh.
I think you are mistaken. People, some of them, worship Bill Clinton and if he waits thirty years to die, they will turn out for him. Besides, I don't know why we have to keep bringing him up, it is like we are obsessed with him.
Thanks!
Does anyone have a still picture of the lines outside?
I don't mean to scold you. Just saying what I think.
The photo of Michael touched me as much as the photo of Nancy on my profile page. click my name.
THe radio reporter at && WABC new york said he counted for a while and a new person joins the line every 2 seconds...
