There is a truth to what you say. I would, however, call it "the pageantry of intellectual immaturity." It is a quite old vice of the left; it goes back to the New Deal and was further exacerbated by the boomer generation's upbringing, the society that surrounded that and their own imagine of themselves. The middle aged of the Liberal world came from somewhat more humble background than they will own up to and have been pedaling this notion of superiority - mostly to themselves - their entire youths. They hate where they came from, which is to say they hate themselves. Now they find themselves facing the fruits of this self loathing and self deception and they cannot bear to look it straight in the eye. Like alcoholics, they lash out at any who who dare to place reality in front of them

You're figures are flawed here. 92% of blacks do not vote Democrat. It was 88% or so, and is consistently dropping. Hispanics are now 13%, not 12%, but they are among the most apathetic of all voter groups, only asians voting in smaller percentage. Every gay person also has a race and other demographic factors, so you cannot add them as 3%. You would have to count only the white, non-jewish percentage, otherwise they are being double counted here. And jews have been abandoning the Democrat party in droves. Jews are currently undergoing the latest great Exodus. The numbers are very fluid, so its really hard to tell what percentage will still be voting Democrat this election.

If you don't believe in God you, by definition, have no moral foundation, just a set of theories on social engineering and societies. I would NEVER vote for an atheist.

It looks like he also presumes 100% turnout--i.e., that there are no differences in likelihood of voting across demographic groups.

I'm conservative. I'd love to vote a conservative into the White House. If one was running that had a chance to win, I'd vote for him.

I do not really hate Bush, but I blame him for making me have to vote for a 'rat because his domestic policy really sucks for the middle class majority in this country. That and as I'm a Civil Servant in the DoD, the Rumsfield plan is an abomination.

Now you can flame me.

Well johnb838, (or should I call you Robert Byrd?) you are absolutely full of #!%&*#!.
There is no correlation between religion and morality whatsoever. Religions have had a basis of morality because it is part of what could be called Natural Law. Religion simply has reflected what is inate in all people.

You think that belief in God makes you moral..?!?
You think bin Laden is moral??
You think pedophile priests are moral??
You think Jim Baker is moral??
You think Bill Clinton with his oversized Bible is moral??

You think the Buddha Siddhartha Gautama, Lai Tzu, or Confucius had no moral foundation???

No conservative can vote for the Democrats. You need to reexamine your beliefs. Assumingthtat you are not a "sleeper," you are either misguided or are not true conservative after all. You may just be the sort of "moderate" Democrat common in civil servant jobs that was quite common before the radical left assumed control of the Democrat Party in the 1960's.

As someone that has worked for the DoD, albeit from the academic and private sector, I have a hard time understanding what you mean by "Rumsfeld's plan." Are you talking about Iraq or "transformation" strategies? If it is the later then it is hard "his" plan or even this administration's "plan." In both cases I would offer that they are rousing successes. Again, you sound more like a "reactionary Democrat." if you will, then a conservative. Not that this is a dishonorable position, far from it - you do not wish to destroy our civilization and replace it with the parody of civilization the left proffers - but it is not a conservative position. It is only "conservative" in a nominal and apolitical sense of the word - it embodies a wish to turn back the clock to what you feel is a saner and sounder time. This is hardly conservative in the political sense of America politics.

That last paragraph was only somewhat relevant to what you said before. I was saying that you weren't making any sense about the declaration of independence. Try putting a leash on a cat and see how he reacts. Love for freedom is inborn. God doesn't need you to believe in him in order for you to take your next breath. Some people describe their will to breathe as coming straight from God's purpose in their lives; some people aren't even interested in talking about that. Either way, they breathe. What the declaration of independence says about God helps convey the point that human dignity and the human desire for freedom come from that which is beyond us, somewhere inexplicable, something sacred. Some people believe that is the Trinity. Some people who signed that document were not the least bit concerned with naming God. Whether you'd vote for one of them is irrelevant.
