I've never understood why "the Smart Set" is so dumb.
What the wag say? "one has to be an intellectual to believe in something that stupid? Shaw, wasn't it?
Partly because their whole focus is on being fashionable and Smart. The real world is not part of their world. They are rich enough that they do not have to consider rude things like reality.
