Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base scheduled for 5 P.M. EDT.
Beginning of procession: 16th and Constitution at 6:00 P.M.

The procession begins at 16 th Street and Constitution Avenue with the ceremonial transfer of remains of former President Ronald Reagan from a hearse to a horse-drawn caisson for the processional to the Capitol. The casket transfer will take place at 6 p.m. and caisson continues east with formal military escort.
The public will be able to pay final respects while the remains lie in state in the Capitol rotunda from 7:00 p.m. through Friday, June 11, 2004 at 9:30 a.m.

watch for the riderless horse following behind the caisson. There will be a saddle on the horse. The boots in the stirrups will be facing backwards, signifiying a fallen warrior. The boots used will be Reagans own riding boots. I will be blubbering when it goes by.

The caisson and the six horses that pull it originally was used to supply soldiers on the fighting lines. The three horses are riderless because in the original caissons go rolling along those riderless horses carried supplies.
It has not always had the funereal reference.

I sure did and the guy actually handled it very well -- he said he respected Pres Reagan which wasn't what she was expecting IMO.
I like Natalie Morales but they could lose that other woman reporter. She is the daughter of a military family and it showed when she talked about the military getting cheers when they came out.
