Got a guess on the crowd numbers?3,457,8921. Probably not a very good guess, but it's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Has it been mentioned here that the flag covering the casket tonight is the one that flew over the U.S. Capitol on the occasion of President Reagan's first inaugural?
As for Senator Stevens' placing the wreath and his salute, he made reference in his remarks to his service in WWII. He must have been an officer, thus he's earned the right to salute that young soldier.

I saw a spectacular NBA championship basketball game last night that went overtime as a result of a last second 3 pointer by the team I wanted to win......
GO LAKERS!!The emotion I felt last night at Staples Center pales in comparison as to what I witnessed on CSPAN today.
It has left me breathless.

Yeah...I didn't want to miss a moment either.
I just started bawling with the "Reagan montage" that ended the ABC coverage.
I did not see Maggie Thatcher unfortunately, but did see Michael Reagan kiss the casket.

President Kenny lying in state with wreathes. I was tempted to insert a South Park quote here, but, thankfully, my better nature prevailed.

From YOUR page, plain talk....
"I also get frustrated with our side's overcautiousness and tendency to play defense rather than stay on offense." Stevens was being "offensive" and you are complaining....sheesh.

I was angered by PBS just flipping back and forth. They carried some of it, but not all of it. I was shocked...

God most literally blessed America with RR. And his strong, loving wife Nancy. On that there can be no disagreement.

Are there actually Freepers who are criticizing the events? Is the Pope Catholic? Of course there are Freepers criticizing the events.
ROFLMAO! I love my people!

"Today's ceremony and the crowds' reverence have given libs a glimpse of the authenic America that Reagan and Bush speak to. We don't do nuance."
You are so correct. I get a lump in my throat just thinking of all the tradition, respect, discipline and decorum that was presented today.
My pride in this county, indebtedness to our military and gratitude to President Reagan is immeasurable.
No nuance there.

According to CBS, the speakers were there because they are the officers designated for such events according to the Constitution.

I have never forgot the sound of that drum I was very little when Kennedy died....I think only in Kindergarten....but I remember it was on the t.v. and all what I remember is that endless drum sound (I can hear it now) and the clip-clop of the horses hooves.
