O'REilly has Monica Crowley on and they agreed that Steven's piece was too politcal in nature.

That picture is getting really old. What unbearable self-centered arrogance, forcing everyone to look at that every time you post.
Glad I have blocking software.

I'll say this for C-SPAN, at least you don't need to use the mute button. Thanks for the reminder, I'm watching the feed right now. My cable company has real trouble with the picture on CSPAN---it's all herringbone. Right now I'm watching CNN on cable and listening to CSPAN on DSL.
Thankfully, the stormfront that threatened my position split in two at a very lucky moment. All we got is rain (plus uninterrupted utilities).

I want to know what Jack says. You know. Jack? From "in the box"? The guy with the round head? I want him to tell me what to think. Yea. Jack. He is on TV so I need to hear what he says. Cuz like this Crowley person we need someone on TV to tell us what's what....

It was crooked ? I didnt notice that. It was the sailor standing guard that caught my eye. Look at any of the overhead shots.

Beautiful Benediction music.
Was earlier talking to the kids (10, 9 and 7) about what was going on, and why it was important. Also explained the military nature of the ceremony. So, on my way for a bathroom break, what do I find but an army of GI Joe dolls, saluting the television set. Gotta love those kids. The next generation is what it is all about. And no, I don't mean it as "it's fer the chillun"

That, my friend, is a classic. Thank you, madame. Sometimes the little grey cells do their work for me.

They usually use a "pool" where all networks use the same feed to avoid a dozen cameras.

They still did that into the '70s, then came cable. After a couple years when it caught on, most 'sign offs', signed off. ;-)

I still have a tough time with the finality of such ceremonies.
But this one I had to see.

I liked the way Stevens spoke....most people speak too slowly for people's brains....and it was obvious he had a lot he wanted to say. Are those the etiquette rules for funerals...."you are supposed to speak slowly and dignified?" President Reagan would probably be laughing about now....

I just wish the pallbearers had been able to position the coffin squarely on the pedestal inside the Rotunda. Ruined a wonderful photo-op from directly above.

He quoted a song from Godspell.I love that song. And it was a wonderful benediction.

FOX NEWS just brushed aside its Allstars, chaired by Brit Hume, to go to the entirely unwatchable ego-storm known as Bill O'Really--er--O'Reilly. It could be worse. The local FOX affiliate cut straight to a shot of Paris Hilton's butt.
