I presume others are watching.
The Old Guard is the nickname for the military unit (3rd Infantry Regiment?) based around Washington that handles a lot of ceremonial duties such as standing watch at Arlington. They will be handling the funeral procession today.

As I understand it, the "Old Guard" is the ceremonial military group who will accompany the caisson.
Now even Asman babbling about the talk of how Nancy led Reagan away from his conservative roots.
I'm being driven to go to MSNBC, as the other gent brought up WH china again.
For God's sake, I heard enough of that back in the eighties when the made-up brouhaha was going on.
It is thanks to Nancy's efforts there is decent service in the WH.
Gack. Now Letitia Baldridge again.
They will always be relegated to the obscene closet of only understanding and defending 'love affairs' between certain disgraced ex-potus's interns, minimizing 'perjury' done by the same and the questioning of 'does character really matter?'. Klinton ruined them, too, by exposing them, and they don't even know it.
Because they are so convinced of their stance, because they perfer the backslaps from people we would cross the street in order to AVOID, they will never, never understand our love and respect for President Ronald Reagan. Character is not an issue to them because they, themselves, are unacquainted with the same.
Foxfire4 and I live in northeast Columbia.

The only difference between the media today and back then is 1) they have the additional tricks added by the Clinton Administration, and 2) the "Reagan democrats" forced them into a form of "restraint." I also think that they never thought he would win his second term by such a wide margin and were taken by surprise by it. I think that that is one of the reasons behind the unprecedented intensity of the assault against Bush - they somehow blame themselves for screwing up the last time.
You know, in my own mind it was the media response to Reagan during those years that clued me in to what they were about. Maybe they will have the same effect on some substantial set of voters this time as well. One can at least hope so.
Next week they will try to demean and defame him, and attempt to "deconstruct" his Presidency. They may not be able to get away with it.
My youngest is 4 so I was in the same boat. I'd love to make it down there on Friday.
Have you heard the interviews given by Senator Elizabeth Dole in the past few days? Absolutely glowing, with references to how President Reagan would ask after the family of the elevator operator. He had a moment for everyone in the White House.
No. 1 would be his using the Oval Office as a personal bordello. Reagan wouldn't even remove his jacket when in it.
Changed when Roosevelt was president during WWII to protect his whereabouts.
Peggy was on Hannity yesterday afternoon and recounted the same story. You could always tell the President was coming because you'd hear laughter in the corridors; he had such a wonderful sense of humor.

[Their feed today is only so so quality, but no talkingheads or running commentaries.]
I never saw the movie, but I think you're right. They're THE spit-and-polish ceremonial unit in the Army, none better.

So what?? .. If President Bush had more parties .. the DC Press would like him more??
What a load of BS
I remember very well how they all ripped into the Reagan's when they lived in the White House
His guest also said the Carters had no idea how to use the White House socially and often appeared inept at it.
