As I remember, Clinton had it within his power to have the Justice Department intervene in the weekend release of Hinckley and did not.

It caused a lot of outrage and the Reagan family was said to be very angry at Clinton.

Perhaps that is one of hundreds of reasons why they don't want that evil man speaking at Reagan's funeral.

Peter Jennings couldn't help but editorialize

You can't buy taste or manners, Peter has neither.

I'm glad they're releasing that route. We wanted to take the 4 kids to the viewing, but with our youngest being 2, there was no way we could spend 12 hours in lines.

Hope we can make it on Friday.

Some of the Washington Old Guard is in shortsleeves for practice, it must be a scorcher today.

I'm in Philly and we are having a high of 92 degrees and it's pretty humid

I was just thinking about how hard all this must be for Mrs. Reagan, and how unselfish she is to allow us all to participate with her in the grieving process.

In my family, the rule of thumb is to bury the departed within a couple of days, so the family can begin to come to closure and healing.

Poor Mrs. Reagan has almost a week of public emotional upheaval. I am so grateful that she and President Reagan had the foresight to know that America would need time to accept his passing, and would want opportunity to honor him.

Someone on FNC is talking about how great the Reagans were socially in Washington.

Then he said this administration is hostile and doesn't entertain well.

He doesn't seem to understand that it's the press and DNC that is hostile.

"Chirac Refuses to Attend Reagan's Funeral"

Good. We don't want Chirac on our soil.

The NWS has issued excessive heat warnings for the afternoon for DC and the surrounding suburbs...the heat index is supposed to be pushing 100 degrees.

At Washington Reagan National as of an hour ago (10:45 EDT), it was already 87, with a heat index of 92. So yeah, it's going to be a nasty hot day up there.

(Of course, down here in SC, nobody bats an eye until the heat index hits 105...)

Are you in SC too? We're in Aiken, 20 minutes from Augusta National.

Adoring each other is important. Actively loving each other strengthens a marriage. Love is a verb.
