The difference being that your "garden-variety Democrat circa 1972" usually displayed a little bit of class. Unlike Mr. Rall, and the present Dems.

No, we just think that someone with a penchant for insulting people who've just passed away is a terrible human being

Rall IS nothing unless he can kick over a hornet's nest every once and a while. He may find that this time, the hornets will be coming directly after his tender pink ass.

Yeah... You're just like Bella Abzug - the Marxist-Leninist. Or George McGovern, the Communist symp.

This charater thinks he is so slick.

And if he were around and lucid, he would probably say that it comes with the territory.

The point is that Reagan is not alive and very recently died. So his hypotheical doesn't work. It is all too easy to claim that a deceased person would agree with you. After all, Siran Siran has tried that ploy at his parole board hearing. Also, Reagan was never mean-spirited in his comments. Once again Rall misses the mark.

If there is a hell, this guy is in it.

Why is he co-opting the imagery of Christianity if he does not believe it? Because atheism/agnostism has no imagery. Unfortunately, Rall doesn't realize that nothing matters if in this life only we have hope in Christ. That is the most desolate image of all.

I hope this fellow reaps his own whirlwind.

Rall is a lowlife who is hoping to vault himself to the slime-pantheon infected by Michael Moore and Al Franken, and grab the big bucks.

To that end, he's shaming himself on TV as much as possible with vile slanders.

But....

Sooner or later, Rall is going to walk into a bar and be recognized by some former or off-duty Army Rangers, who are going to remember his vicious slander of Pat Tillman.

He won't be on TV for a long time after that, not until he gets the bandages off, and learns how to walk and talk with formerly unused (but still functional) parts of his brain.

"Still, I'm not a knee-jerk left-wing guy," Mr. Rall said. "I am an advocate of the Second Amendment;

KW: Some people on the right would say we're Americans because we have the right to bear arms, because we have constitutional liberties, the right to start our own businesses...

TR: The right to start your own business? They have that in China. What's the difference? That's not even unique to capitalism. But I agree with the right about certain things. I do think the right to own guns is an important freedom. But I believe in gun control in that not just anyone should be able to walk into a store and buy a gun. Obviously there should be stringent licensing requirements. You're required to have a license to own a dog, and dogs aren't quite as lethal as guns. But when the crunch comes people need to have guns. If they're all in the hands of the government authorities then only the government has any power.

Let's go ahead and "license" journalists too. Makes it easier to identify someone when they put a phoney post on a weblog. And that "right to free speech" could be stopped when it is used to incite a riot or murder. What a useful idiot.

I don't think that lying under oath gets you a ticket to hell, Mr. Rall. I would hardly deign to assume that Clinton is destined for Hades as a consequence.

I was one of those who was on the front lines hollering at Clinton during his time in office. When his time comes, you won't find me and dare I say, many of us, saying he is going to "fry". Given the opportunity, I'll wager that most of us right-wingers would prefer to remain silent rather than spew bitterly like Rall and his ilk. In fact, I could find constructive things to say about Clinton when the curtain closes one last time for him. He was a pretty positive person (unlike Kerry or Hillary) and he tried as hard as a person could to settle the conflict in the middle East. He is a fallible human like the rest of us and I deeply disagreed with his policies and what I felt was an overly casual attitude. But Hell, naw. It isn't up to me to determine.

Sheesh.

Hey, I EXPECT all communists to hate Reagan, even after the passage of time -- he kicked their collective asses. I know the truth hurts, Ted, but if you are going to be a communist, then wear the name proudly...

anyone who is a garden-variety Democrat circa 1972

His problem is that he actually thinks that the commies he hung out with back then were "garden-variety" Democrats. Now, of course, they actually ARE typical Democrats. He's one of the silly, perennially-protesting fools, that have never grown up. I have a notion that he's known John Kerry for some time.

Somehow, I just can't take this guy seriously enough to get mad at him. I mean, he's so over the edge, he's probably doing us more good than he is harm, just causing people to blow him off along with whatever publication he turns up in. I'm a lot more infuriated by the nutwork news anchors, whom I'd like to hang from lampposts. (Rall, I think I'd just shove into a cesspool...).

But, if we're going to get all worked up,

Mr. Rall's cartoons are distributed by Universal Press Syndicate and appear in about 140 publications, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury-News. He also regularly posts his opinions at www.rall.com.

we should get a list together of every paper, everywhere, that publishes his cartoons, and just start circulating and publicizing the list, asking that people just cancel their subscriptions. There's probably ample reason independent of Rall's idiocies to boycott all those media outlets permanently anyway...

"This is journalism, and it is a job, and we are here to tell the truth," said Mr. Rall.....

Absolutely right, Mr. Rall. Your mandate as a journalist IS to report the truth, OBJECTIVELY and not colored by PERCEPTION or IDEOLOGY!!! Here, you have obviously crossed the line and allowed your ideology to influence your reporting of your perceived truth. Journalism should rely exclusively on facts, not inference.

They are journalist and it is thei job to Tell The Truth. They are liberals and they deny that there is any Truth and believe that reality is a mental construct. Therefore the Truth is what one of these deep thinkers perceives as being the most useful thing to say or write to promote his particular mental construct. They are not "lying" about things. They believe facts are what they want them to be.

Maybe we should take some comfort in this. If Rall is classifying himself and the other Rats of the age as "garden-variety Democrat(s) circa 1972", we're in good shape politically speaking. In the election that year, those clowns lost 49 states in the biggest landslide in history. A pleasant thought that history might repeat itself...?
