What if they were to break some huge "scandal" midweek and go into a perplectic feeding frenzy?

I love that photo, while it makes me sad. The Left will just never understand that God's love is manifested in that comforting hug the Reagans' pastor is giving.

Several years ago, a childless, elderly aunt of my husband's who was under our care during a simple hospital procedure died suddenly and unexpectedly while in the hospital. It was such a simple procedure that her only sister--my mother-in-law--and my father-in-law had not even accompanied her here to the hospital. Being childless, the aunt had no one to look after her affairs here except us, and we had a child to look after too. We DID NOT want my in-laws to get the news over the phone from us, alone in their home more than 50 miles away, so we enlisted the help of their pastor, who went over and broke the news to them in person. How do people with no faith or religion deal with things like that?

Sgt. York is a handsome horse, got some T'bred in him.

I think he is an off-the-track standardbred.

I marched in the last Presidential Funeral for LBJ as a member of the Coast Guard.

They needed a contigent to represent the USCG but the only large group that could march was those in Boot Camp. We drilled for 3 days doing manual of arms drills with the old WWI rifles but when the officers reviewed our performance they decided to have us march with M-16s at sling arms. It was a long day driving from Cape may to DC and back but the Chiefs and 1st Class PO's had a great time bringing along several cases of beer making them piss-drunk by noon time.

And after everything that had happened through the Johnson, Nixon, and Ford years, it seemed pretty much normal. That's what RWR changed.

I remember the JFK funeral very well, I was 19 (yeah, I'm old ;-)

Yeah! another "old" person. I was feeling really old this week-end watching the anniversary of D-Day. 1944....the year of my birth.

I can't imagine the same scene being played out at his Liebrary when he dies and goes to hell....

Wanna know the REALLY incredible thing about the Lord? He loves Clinton, too. Doesn't mean he'll go to Heaven, but the Lord still loves him.

Upwind or downwind?

LOL!! See? Even in our grief, there's always something to laugh about and be happy.

I find it bizarre that some freepers think he is being snubbed.

Maybe they haven't experienced large family funerals themselves...

Yeah, they were excellent. Suprisingly I saw a bit by Hugh Sidey on MTP that really spoke to me. I think it's still on the MSNBC website --it really captured reagan for me! Ronald Reagan was an optimist, ahero and a patriot.

He's just so large-- and big men like Brit Hume are the only ones fit to pay tribute in the media. A small, semi-illiterate, trying to fit in in Manhattan schmuck like Smith isn't worthy of this assignment.

That old reprobate LBJ would've definitely loved it!

Here is what I posted on another thread:

Oh, I saw this guy on a show earlier tonight! He is a retired Secret Service agent; he told the saddest story; after Reagan got sick, this guy would ride with him at the rance; when it got so bad that Reagan couldn't ride safely, this guy told Nancy that they just couldn't let him ride anymore.

Nancy told the Secret Service guy HE would have to tell RWR; he didn't want to, but she said it would be better coming from them.

So he goes into the office, scared to death because he said riding was Reagan's life; he sat down and said, "Mr. President, it's getting bad out there; I'm worried about you getting hurt. I think we need to stop riding."

He said that Reagan stood up, grasp him by both shoulders and said, "I know."

And he never rode again.

Then the agent said, "At the lowest point in his life, HE comforted me."

Amazing.

Well, I just poked my head out at my boss and told him I was following a live thread of the Reagan service, and was crying at work and apologized, and he had been crying in his car at lunch (he had just gotten back). So its ok now.
