I understand that President Reagan's body will be at his library in Simi Valley for 24 so that we may come and pay our respects. Okay, who is going?

The library is closed for the next 6 or 7 days, although his body is going to lie in repose. Are we going to be able to pay our respects or not?

To all those that go, you carry the pride and respect, and the tears of all freepers who cannot, god bless you.

From the Reagan Library site:

This is a MEDIA Information release for memorial activities: (Partial quote)The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, located at 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley, California will be CLOSED FOR PARKING from Saturday, June 5th until Sunday, June 13th. ALL MEDIA MUST GO TO CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY (CLU) located at 60 West Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks, California They give a link to a map in this press release. Not a lot more information, such as dates, times, etc., but if they're imposing this parking restriction on the press (who usually hang out right at the site of whatever is going on), they may also request the public to follow this.

Also, just got off the phone with Simi Valley Police Dept. (information # (805) 583 - 6100, regular # (805) 583 - 6950). They said there may be a shuttle service being run from Moorpark College on Sunday, but they were not certain about that. They said to keep trying the link I posted above to the Reagan Library Funeral information. Finally, Simi Valley Bus Service to the Presidential Library normally does not run on Saturday or Sunday.

You can find the schedule at this link: It's a PDF file

so you could find a place to park in Simi, if you're going on Monday, and the parking restrictions are still bad at the Library. That's about all the information I've been able to dig up. Sorry it's not more informative, and for the bad formatting.

Thanks for the info but I'm still confused. Have you found out whether there will be a public viewing at the library?

I just spoke to the media contact # at the Library at 805-522-1502. The gentleman on the phone says nothing will be known for certain until noon tomorrow (Sunday 06 June).

He said right now he's hearing the same as we are, via Fox and/or KFI.

He wasn't even certain about the dates of the Washington, D.C. activities.

Sorry, Doug.

Doug, I used to live on North Tracy Ave at the mid-east end of the valley; if I wasn't stuck here in Nasville, I'd go with you.

Over there by Sequoia Park? I'm near Los Angeles Ave and Yosemite -- further east.

Up by Cochran. My aunt lived on Vaquero and her daughter on Springfield, her son just off Royal(?)

We're all gone from there now, darn it.

MSNBC said there will be a public viewing of his flag-draped casket at the library on Monday... It's also on this thread: here. A contact at the library has been notified and we're waiting for an exact answer? It looks like several FReepers will be there. I hope to.
