Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Gentle passing, indeed. What a wonderful leader. Looking back fondly at his strength and conviction.

As painful as it is to think about, I fear the Altzeimers has claimed his mind long before his body would give out.
May President Reagan and his family be released soon from the clutches of this most cruel disease, and may God bless his soul.

May GOD bless Ronald Reagan. I dearly love that man for everything he did to reinstill the pride of America and being an American. My God be with him, his dear family and his beloved United States of America.Amen.
And, thank you, sir, for your service.

I was waiting to see this hit the Internet -- it was the rumor all afternoon in the newsroom where I work. All newspapers have had their Reagan (and Pope John Paul II) tributes and special sections prepared for a while now; we dusted ours off today.Did you have to endure any snotty comments from coworkers? Or were they halfway decent?

What a beautiful, hopeful thing to say....:) I have my moments ... usually when the Red Hook is flowing and the metal is booming!
We all owe RWR a huge debt ... for those of us around my age (38) he is huge ... a non-Ivy Leaguer with more sense and wisdom than the entire faculty of Harvard ... unlike them, he didn't feed on unproven and largely useless theories in textbooks ... he knew the way the World works and he understood the nature of Man ... those who charicatured him as a "dunce" should have had half his intellect.

It would have been a real injustice for X42 or for Kerry, should he win in November, to preside over Reagan's funeral. Reagan deserves to go to Heaven's bright shore and leave behind his broken body and he deserves to not die under the presidency of a traitor. I pray for a quick end to his pain.
