Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Developing...

I love that man. What hope he gave us. What inspiration he provided the world with his vision and stalwart leadership.

I wish him a gentle passing and comfort for his family.

It is kind of fitting that he would die on what will more than likely be the last real remembrance of D-Day.

I'm trying to prepare myself. I know it's coming, but I fear I'll fall apart. What a great American and President! God have mercy on Nancy, Michael and the rest of his family.

A couple of weeks ago I had a dream that President Reagan would go to his eternal home on Memorial Day. Now it seems he may be ready to leave us on the Anniversary of D-Day.

I am crying already at the thought of his passing.

I actually love that man and I'm not someone who "loves" people I don't know personally.

He's the reason I changed parties back in the early 80s.

that's true - there will never be another president like Reagan - the generation he came from, his stature, etc.

Prayers of the Gipper and family.

I can just see kerry saying he hopes this does not happen during the DNC convention. Imagine Kerry having to compete with the Ronald Reagan. Imagine Time magazine having to put Ronald Reagan on the cover over kerry.

all pathic notions when you consider what this man is enduring. He gave us and our children such a better world and more hope for our tommorrows.

I was waiting to see this hit the Internet -- it was the rumor all afternoon in the newsroom where I work.

All newspapers have had their Reagan (and Pope John Paul II) tributes and special sections prepared for a while now; we dusted ours off today.

I hope I don't wake up to sad news tomorrow... hang in there Good Sir!!!

My prayers are with the Reagan family. Lord knows I need them myself as I care for my grandmother, who's been going down that path for 2 years now.

Prayers for a great president and his family. Without being morbid, what a fitting tribute to him if he happens to die on the 60th Anniversary of D-Day (ala' Jefferson and Adams(?) who died on July 4th). He was so instrumental in bringing the iron curtain down to free eastern Europe, and ridding Western Europe of the communist threat.

Pretty good for some old movie star that didn't know anything and was usually napping. /sarcasm

He probably doesn't even know that he is in the world. I feel so sorry for his family and friends. It must be so painful to watch him. God Bless the Reagan family and all their friends.

May GOD bless Ronald Reagan. I dearly love that man for everything he did to reinstill the pride of America and being an American. My God be with him, his dear family and his beloved United States of America.

I guess the long goodbye is about over. I have this terrible feeling the press will use his passing as an excuse to renew their criticisms of his administration. I will have none of that. My memories of Reagan will be "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" and his eulogy of the shuttle astronauts. He is and shall always be a truly great American.
