Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Developing...

He would write an average of 8 letters a day to regular folks. Two sisters in California would regularily send him leather-worked items as gifts. They would also mention in their letter that "their horse had been treated by 'Doc Johnson'". Reagan would then send a letter to the Doc (or whoever) thanking him , etc. This was the sister's payment to the doc - a handwritten letter from Reagan. (Reagan know what was going on).

That's it, exactly.
You just didn't have to "worry", period.
You knew he'd take care of us....:)

And no, it won't ever be that way again.
Certain 'factions' will not allow it.

The first president I ever voted for was Carter.
I'll never live that down.
I got my mind right, by the next time around.

This will be such an imeasurable loss.

They "supported the troops" because they feared they'd be dragged into the streets for an @ss-kicking, if they didn't.

Can't be seen as being "unpatriotic", [in public] now can we?

The only high road they ever take is the walk down to the local head shop.

The first president I ever voted for was Carter.

Don't sweat it.  I voted for Clinton in 96.

And to compound that stupidity, I told my mother.  So from around last January and going on until November I've been getting the "Now, when you go to vote you want to check 'Bush': B-U-S-H...there's only one on the ballot so don't confuse yourself with learning his first name.  Then again, maybe you should send me your absentee ballot and I'll fill it out for you and send it in."

"Just think where this country might be, if Carter had 4 more yrs, along with his socialist henchmen."

Annexed to the Panama canal and sold to the Chinese?

[just guessin'].....;)

"Mr Reagan quietly destroyed the USSR at Reykjavik"

The Irish are a race
That God created mad
For all their wars are merry
And all their songs are sad

I think he quietly and cheerfully destroyed them.....;)

They'd better make some room on Mt. Rushmore.

As I understand it, the one space left on Mt. Rushmore has too many cracks to be sculpted.

But - why, oh why, is this man on the dime???

The man who currently graces our dimes caused a normal post-bubble recession turn into a TEN-YEAR DEPRESSION and ushered in the closest thing this country ever came to outright fascism.

See H.B. 3633 - the Ronald Reagan Dime Act

"Here's a new Bush campaign slogan....Win one for the Gipper."

My God, I'm just thinking "will someone say the obvious" and low and behold you nail it right out of the box.

I know this may be callous and selfish but I could not think of a more potent way for that great man to be relieved of his suffering while having one last impact on the current political landscape than to have God call Ronnie home. There are still plenty of Reagan Democrats with fond memories of the 40th President and they would revolt if they saw the irrational rantings of the left extended in the form of post-death Reagan bashing. I actually wish that, under such tragic circumstances, the leftist would do so. Not even Hillary jumping in could motivate as many conservatives to the polls as the death of the "Gipper".

God please forgive me for saying such a thing.

Oh man...that is stone *cold* of her!....LOL!

Don't have to worry about that with my mum.
She'll probably be writing in John Edwards on her ballot....:))

I recall Willy's first win.
That election night was one of the bleakest evenings of my life.

"he was far more villified then than Bush is now"

Nope! Not even close! The dems were still civilized. This crude, crass, rude, ill-manered bunch today is the brain child of the Clintons.

They won't.
They'll be right in the thick of the wake and wailing.

Agree. Reagan & Tip O'Neill used
to golf together. Try to imaging
Bush being on golfing terms with
Gephardt(pre-Pelosi), Daschle or
any leading Liberal Dem.
