"He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Developing...

DUers are claiming that Bush is going to kill him just at the right time for a polls bump...

How thoroughly revolting.

Those we face now are beyond our "normal understanding" of an enemy.

In all past wars -- 1776, 1812, 186?, WWI, WWII, even the Cold Wars -- the typical enemy combatant was some hapless rube forced into service.

Not so this war.

The combatants are all Satan's Soldiers.

I'll need to listen to it. In Peggy Noonan's book "What I saw at the Revolution" she talks about Reagan complimenting her on writing such a great speech.

From the book:

Reagan says: "But it was wonderful. Where you there? Well, after the speech the original Pointe du Hoc fellows came up and told me how much they liked it... the Rangers recreated the climb up those cliffs, this fellow went up with them just as he had forty years ago, and he made it to the top with those kids. Boy, that was something."

"'Boy that was something.' That's how he talks, like a happy working-class American boy of the thirties."

Agreed. My entire political view on the world were developed in the Reagan era. I viewed Reagan and the alternative and could not believe anyone supported no less than 90% of the views of Reagan. (I come from a long line of Southern Democrats/Moderates).

President Reagan, for what it's worth, I'll pass to you the most honorable gesture my father passed to me:

Ya done good.

Humbly yours, Æ

The protests against Ronald Reagan dwarfed anything George W. Bush has garnered so far. GWB has stirred them up quite a bit, but nothing like Reagan did. Over a million pretested in the streets of New York over the deployment of the Nuclear Missiles in Europe

1980 Carter Re-Elected
1984 Mondale or Gary Hart(pence) wins.
1988 Mondale or Hart reelceted
1992 Clinton

Try this instead...

1980 Carter re-elected
1981 Soviets invade Iran
1983 Soviets invade West Germany. Carter sues for peace.
1984 Soviets launch preemptive strike upon U.S. targets. Carter refuses to retaliate.
1985 America surrenders.

I don't old many living folks in "upper echelon" esteem. Not that this means a whole hell-of-alot. But Ron Reagan is a man's man. God bless him.

Slow Marching Band

Would you join a slow marching band?
And take pleasure in your leaving
as the ferry sails and tears are dried
and cows come home at evening.

Could you get behind a slow marching band?
And join together in the passing
of all we shared through yesterdays
in sorrows neverlasting.

Take a hand and take a bow.
You played for me; that's all for now, oh, and never
mind the words just hum along and keep on going.
Walk on slowly --- don't look behind you.
Don't say goodbye, love. I won't remind you.

Dream of me as the nights draw cold
still marking time through Winter.
You paid the piper and called the tune
and you marched the band away.

Take a hand and take a bow.
You played for me; that's all for now, oh, and never
mind the words just hum along and keep on going.
Walk on slowly --- don't look behind you.
Don't say goodbye, love. I won't remind you.

MIDI - DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING

Every now and then we find that a great leader comes along
One who has greatness that we celebrate in poetry and song
He grew up in the Midwest and he had learned his lessons well
But how far he would go nobody could really tell

His accomplishments were growing but he’s not one who would boast
He learned that a man’s character is what is valued most
And he’s led his life with an honor that we can admire

Ronald Reagan we love you…and you are loved around the world
Thanks to your vision flags of freedom everywhere have been unfurled
We will all raise up our glass, here’s a salute from one and all
Long live your legacy – The Man Who Brought Down the Wall

There’s a natural right of men…that right is all men shall live free
Because freedom makes each person all the best that he can be
One president knew that much better than anyone else

Ronald Reagan we love you…and you are loved around the world
Thanks to your vision flags of freedom everywhere have been unfurled
We will all raise up our glass, here’s a salute from one and all
Long live your legacy – The Man Who Brought Down the Wall

Ronald Reagan we love you…and you are loved around the world
Thanks to your vision flags of freedom everywhere have been unfurled
We will all raise up our glass, here’s a salute from one and all
Long live your legacy – The Man Who Brought Down the Wall

You’re loved by all

They'd better make some room on Mt. Rushmore.

I agree. Put Ron on the rock. If not that, put him on the $10.
