Sorry man, I was refering to that comercial his opponent ran where the cop pulled him over. I thought that one probably gained him votes. Maybe you didn't see it but it played heavily in the metroplex area.

How about the other Senator from Arizona, Jon Kyl? He's VERY good on conservative issues. If Specter loses, Kyl will become the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and if the Senate stays tight and several Supreme Court spots open up, he could get quite a bit of exposure...
Just a pipe dream... 2012, possibly?
Kyl/Tancredo would be optimum, and probably do just as well as Goldwater... Any way you cut it, guys, you're not going to get an absolute conservative in the White House. Folks on the ends of the spectrum (such as ourselves, Kyl, and Tancredo) may have limited local success, but, quite simply, alienate most voters. And when that happens, we end up with a rat.
So, in conclusion, Giuliani or Jeb would be the most electable in 2008 (VP slot up in the air), and a hell of a lot more conservative than Hillary. Rice or Powell probably isn't likely.

Kyl has a lifetime ACU rating of 97. Tancredo has 97, and Toomey has 96, FWIW.

God help us if the Constitution is amended. When I listened to AG Ashcroft and Dir. Mueller say that one of the 7 wanted terrorists lived in the US for 15 years, I thought of Orrin Hatch's DREAM ACT. The Dream Act would allow a foreign born person who lived in the US for 20 yrs and had a HS diploma to run for President. So, if this terrorist lived here for 5 additional yrs and had the support of George Soros, this terrorist could buy the Presidency. The Dream Act could be a nightmare for America. I've called Hatch, Frist and many other Senators to forget about this "Dream".

"but all evidence points in the opposite direction for this nation, namely an all out apostasy from the truth and a nation that is moving from Post-Christian to Anti-Christian."
Scary prospect when we look at the result historically of this stance.

Haley Barbour is a horrbile choice. No way anyone from MS will ever be PResident.
Who the hell are you to say?
Your ignorance is stunning
and your manners are those of a Yankee.
Like Jimmy Carter from Georgia was a great choice?

Hayworth/Watts would be formidable against HRC. Both so articulate. Hayworth a fine debater, as is Watts.Maybe too good to be the candidates. How often are the best chosen?

He grew up not far from where I live, so I've known of him for a long time. The people in his own hometown don't have much nice to say about him. Don't get me wrong...I don't hate him...I just don't think he's a very strong leader and definitely not Presidential material.

it won't be just "a democrat" in 2008 - its Hillary.

I lived in Va. for three years while George Allen was governor -- he struck me as a good, common-sense kind of guy, a class act. I'd like to see him throw his hat in.

Today is the birthday of a Mississippian who got elected President. Of course, it wasn't President of the USA.
Another possibility is Sam Brownback (Senator from Kansas)...I don't know if he has any Presidential ambitions.

Haven't thought much about it, but I hear the Gov. of Colorado is conservative and supports good old-fashioned American ideals. If I'm wrong, I bet freepers from Colorado will correct me. Used to like him for Prez. But he separated from his wife Frances not long ago and has since been seen in public with cute young things. Also rumors swirl amongst Republican faithful about other stuff that would be fatal to a Republican presidential run.
I doubt he is running.

Owens for Prez. Jeb Bush is an awesome guy, but everyone will scream 41 and 43 are pulling the strings like they claimed W was handled by 41. Wait a few more Jeb.
As for Condi, I love her as the NSA, and as a person she's great, and if you've followed her over the years she's growing more conservative in areas. As Churchill said 'If your not a liberal when your young, you have no heart. If your not a conservative when your older you have no head.' I skipped the first phase, but for many people its true. I would like to see Condi get involved in California after she's Sec of State this next term. A VP needs experience in Congress, thats the VPs job. She is, in my mind, a good follower, (the 1st requirement for being a leader) and a great team player, but not a proven leader. Give her some more time.
As for Colin, same as above. He has changed over time, and an election campaign for congress will expose his positions better then reading tea leaves and speculation. He was A good leader of a body (Joint Chiefs), but the Prez must sometimes lead, not caring who thinks what, or even without consensus. Give it a little more time, maybe he will have shown his positions clearly by 2007. Hope they're good ones.
As for Rudy, he has proven leadership ability, and a positive, electric charm. But he is NOT a realistic option if you believe abortion is MURDER. 'No' now is not forever, and our country owes him much for his actions following 9/11, but No.
Keyes is awesome, and truly understands America's problems, but the pessimist in me says he will be vilified in the Media, and he will fight back, and thats what they want. Not that I wouldn't try my hardest to fight for him.
As for Owens, I am still checking him out, but I like what I read and hear. Pro-life, pro-gun. Popular and honest. Not from a 'upercostervative'state which would led CNN to decry him as a fanatic. My Owens-Watts is tentative, for Owens that is.
JC Watts is extremely, extremely well qualified. He has several terms in the House on many important committees. He has established strong links to many groups, and has respect in the Black Community. He calls it as it is. He is well spoken, and not easy distracted and never bullies or is bullied. He works to build consensus, but will go it alone. He was elected overwhelmingly by Whites, and as Blacks are leaving the Dems, they are looking for someone to relate to and to cheer on. He has avoided the 'Black Leadership' farce, and has done it his way. He is a man who relies on God for his strength and direction, and is very intelligent to boot. He supports the military strongly, and wants to sees America in a Reagan-like Black and White, with no shades of Gray. People like that, alot!
Anywho, Chaney should 'retire' to Hawaii in 2006, and Bush should submit Watts as VP. By then we will have close to, if not 60 seats, and get him confirmed. He finishes the term and DOES NOT go for the Presidency, instead making it clear he would like instead to serve another term as VP if the nominated Pres would take him. Owens would get the Nod, (IF REPUBLICANS WILL PLEASE AVOID THE 'DEVOUR EACH OTHERS YOUNG' THING WE DO SO WELL AT TIMES!!!) and picks up Watts. Now you have a strong candidate for the Pres, and a Semi incumbents status with the VP, not to mention the opportunity to be at least even with the Dems among Black voters. Are you hearing ANY of this Mr. Rove?

Yeah, I hear where you're coming from. Hayworth (Arizona) and Watts (Oklahoma) are not from the "big states" that everyone in the party establishment likes to see. I think HRC will be the Dummycrat nominee in 08 though, so I'm not sure the "big state" allure will be all that necessary.

Err, umm. My spelling in the above. What?? I'm losing it.
'and sees America in a Reagan-like Black and White, with no shades of Gray', and 'SuperConservative'. I blame the spellcheck goblins.

The public will NOT accept Jeb so soon after W. No way. It smacks too much of "dynasty," and it isn't going to happen. He could perhaps look at 2012 if a Dem gets in, or 2016. But there would be too much latent anti-Bush opposition.
