that's is correct. way too many optimists on this thread - this is a serious negative development for Bush, 150 days from the election.

I do not think Tenet resigning will have an effect on the president's relection chances at all.

For those voters who even pay attention to these things, half will be happy to see him go and half will not be happy but won't blame his going on the president.

No it's not. Nobody but beltway clowns care.

The timing is actually pretty good - the election is still a long way off in terms of news cycles . . . UNLESS the resignation is prompted by messy realities regarding Plame, Chalabi, etc., which could linger deep into the election cycle, and which the media - ever searching for a new Watergate - will exploit to the max.

We've seen before, that when you are against something, it is probably the exact right thing to do. You have a uncanny knack for being on the wrong side of every issue.

Probably why:

LOL! He is running against John Kerry! Kerry is to most Americans, especially in the south, as long fingernails are to a black board.

I've been watching "W" for years. This ain't nothing. And neither is Kerry. Bush is going to wipe the floor with this weirdo.

Optimism has nothing to do with it.

I'm sorry to see him go. He wasn't the best, but nowhere near as bad as some here make him out to be.

Whatever his real reasons for resigning, and you can bet there are many, the fact is that the media has been screeching leak, coverup and 9/11 intelligence failure for the past two years. Wilson/Plame, pseudomicrominigate and the allegations the CIA ordered prisoners to wear women's panties were only more recent developements and the icing on the anti-Bush WOT agenda cake.

The media has screwed themselves. The public is not gonna buy the media trying to turn Tenet into a victom after painint him as a villian for so long. They'll TRY. The public just won't but it. Nobody's heart or mind will be changed.
