this is not good news at all. The media will spin it as Bush's national security team cracking up because the war has gone badly, or maybe tie it into this Wilson grand jury leak thing. This is not good news 150 days from the election.
I don't think it will be related to the Iraq war. They may spin it as related to 9/11 hearings though. Will it be enough to feed the liberal appetite for destruction? They will chant for Condi's head too.
It will not have one iota of effect on the election.
Tenet's job is done. Seven years is a long time in this job, as Boyden Gray says.
I think this could play out either way. You're right that is how the media spins it, but the Bush team might be able to make hay with it. For example, I could see putting Guiliani in charge might make it a political plus. It makes use of him and his popularity, but in a way that his social liberalism is not a problem.
The likelihood is that the President has finally told him...'Get out of here'. What are the chances that this may in fact have more to do with ultimate credibility issues, and the Prez finally suspected that Tenet is not the straight-shooter he fervently wished him to be?
I wonder how the whole Chalabi intrigue may have had a hand in this...
YOU got no faith, boy. We have a good Christian leader in President Bush and we will prevail. Get yourself to the Pray for President Bush part of the Free Republic and get yourself in line. And a very pleased good bye to Tenet.
You are correct this will be spun in an anti-Bush fashion.
Now how many months will the confirmation of his replacement drag on due to RAT footdragging?
Actually this post should not be political and its occupant should serve for a six year term so as to overlap administrations. Like the Fed Reserve Chairman's job.
Anytime a 'Toon appointee leaves the administration, it is good news.
You're wrong again... But you're used to it, I know.
.
I'm as pessimistic as the next guy, but it all depends on who replaces Tenet. If it's Rudy or McCain or someone like that, it's a goldmine of good PR.
I think this is because of the Wilson leak, and I don't think it is necessarily bad for the election. The fact that he is a clinton holdover makes me suspicious of his involvement.
Who gives a f? The media hates Bush. That is a given. Screw um. We have a freekin job to do!
You are so right.
Well, they are correct that CIA and State Department--I mean the careerists who sabatoged the invasion from Turkey--have never been on board. Will we ever be rid of the Ivy Leagers who wear the stripped pants?
