Oh Howlin calm down. LOL! You have plenty of time to figure out this mystery, don't try and solve it by you're 3rd cup of coffee

Your negativity is getting awfully hard to take.

What are you doing to counter the media spin?

Research and writing the truth on FR threads?

Writing letters to the editor and informing readers of the truth vs. liberal spin?

Since you aren't doing anything but whining on FR, you are part of the problem, not the solution.

I have an ultra-liberal friend who has relatives in the State Department, and it would not surprise me at all if elements there are working at cross-purposes with the president. They are Carterites, i.e., believers in endless negotiations and paper agreements which change nothing, allow problems to fester for generations, but give them comfortable careers sipping cognac in foreign embassies with people who want to destroy us. Their business cards say, "I'm urbane and sophisticated, unlike most Americans."

I agree with what you said. I challenge anyone to go into that hornets nest at the CIA and straighten it out with the bureaucratic mess that has taken years and years to put in place and now try to figure it out quickly. It's even gotten worse since 9-11, there are 1000's plotting against us, not to mention countries plotting against us. How in the world do we get the handle on this now quickly? And is it even possible to thwart every attack. They've done darn well, I might add since 9-11.

From the tone of President Bush's voice (oops time out had to change channel to remove Pelosi from my TV)

From the tone of President Bush's voice this morning I have a feeling Director Tenet may be ill. Or, someone in his family may be ill. President Bush was visibly shaken and I don't think it's simply because the Director submitted a letter of resignation. I can't bash this man until I know the whole story and we quite possibly never will.

I didn't finish my thought. LOL

That would blow a hole as big as the Atlantic Ocean in the 'Rat's ticket. Because the 'Rats have no one to counter the move at VP...

We are still paying for Stansfield Turner's mistakes, and the real truth about John Deutch's ineptness was swept under the rug. Care to think again about your statement.

No. I am talking about qualifications, not performance. However, Tenet as one of the longest serving Directors ever, had plenty of black marks. Deutsch may have turned in a worse performance, but Tenet is not far behind. At least Deutsch brought more executive experience to the job.

John Deutch has served in significant government and academic posts throughout his career. In May 1995, he was sworn in as Director of Central Intelligence following a unanimous vote in the Senate, and served as DCI until December 1996. In this position, he was head of the Intelligence Community (all foreign intelligence agencies of the United States) and directed the Central Intelligence Agency. From March 1994 to May 1995, he served as the Deputy Secretary of Defense. From March 1993 to March 1994, Dr. Deutch served as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisitions and Technology.

From 1977 to 1980, John Deutch served in a number of positions for the U.S. Department of Energy: as Director of Energy Research, Acting Assistant Secretary for Energy Technology, and Undersecretary of the Department.

In addition John Deutch has served on many commissions during several presidential administrations. He has served on the President's Nuclear Safety Oversight Committee (1980-81); the President's Commission on Strategic Forces (1983); the White House Science Council (1985-89); the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (1997-2001), the President's Intelligence Advisory Board (1990-93); the President' Commission on Aviation Safety and Security (1996); the Commission on Reducing and Protecting Government Secrecy (1996); and as Chairman of the Commission to Assess the Organization of the Federal Government to Combat the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (1998-99).

It goes without saying that ADM Turner also had more executive experience than Tenet. Tenet worked for Leahy and Boren among others. He was politically well-connected and knew how to work the bureaucratic system.

Chill on this one. I bet that his 7 years was the equivalent of double that. Deutsch was worse. Its a good thing. He had a very, very hard job.

That says a lot about the content of your posts, doesn't it?

Uh, yeah. It says I consider it fact.

You were passionate enough about it to state it as fact, but don't care to back it up?

Yes, that is correct. I really don't care one way or the other. If I did, rest assured that I would gladly argue the point as I have many others in my time at FR despite getting gangbanged. I quite honestly don't give a darn and no matter how hard you try to make me care, I won't. Sorry.

If I realized it would've gotten a few people so riled up I wouldn't have commented in this thread at all. It was an idle statement without much of any intent behind it - least of all whatever malevolent conspiracy you've identified...

As I said, you're part of the problem.

Trust me, dear. Your problem goes far, far deeper than me.

Unlike many freepers, I'd be astounded to see Tenet speak out badly about the president.

I'm with you

Chris Wallace on Fox confirms that Tenet wanted to leave before.

Someone earlier on this thread wanted to know if that was a true story.

That CIA/Iraq fiasco in 1997 has been totally forgotten by the media.

Timing is Perfect. They will be working on a new director at the same time as the Dims head to their Convention. You couldnt PLAN it any better.

Exactly. Especially if the President nominates someone like Rudy. oceanview would be saddened, as would the rest of DU and the Demodogs.

You are right on, and your comment deserves repetition:

"I have been warning that the media is our real enemy, since I joined FR.

"It is my major soap-box issue.

"It matters not what Bush says or does, they either report, or not report, at their will, they will report in context only under a Dem Pres.

"They are in full campaign mode for Kerry, and Bush will be lucky to win.

"MY point is, on THIS FORUM, which is read by those who wish us harm, and on a thread of news like this, we should be thinking and planning ways to fight. "

It all depends on how Tenet behaves. He can be a real help if he bashes Clinton and praises Bush from now on.

...so what's your point?

Well, I'm not sure how much more clearly I can say that I don't care enough to argue the topic. That is my point.
