A 15-month-old child in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia weighs 55 pounds and is gaining nearly 5 pounds a month, according to a Local 6 News report.
Luka Meliksishvili has been rapidly gaining weight since his birth, according to his parents. He already carries the weight of a 6-year-old child, Local 6 News reported Monday night.
Luka's mother, Eka Meliksishvili, said doctors in Tbilisi have examined her son and advised her not to be too concerned. They said Luka may be able to shed his excess weight as he grows older.

'GMF'.......?
Maybe this will be the next Andre the Giant....
Anyone see Vasily Alexiyev hanging around Mom's house?
Todzilla. Fortunately for mom, he no longer breast feeds.
Looks like 2nd generation canned formula to me.
Appetite Disorder
Hypothalamic dysfunction is thought to be the cause of the disordered appetite/satiety function characteristic of PWS. Compulsive eating and obsession with food usually begin before age 6. The urge to eat is physiological and overwhelming; it is difficult to control and requires constant vigilance.
Weight Management Challenge
Compounding the pressure of excessive appetite is a decreased calorie utilization in those with PWS (typically 1,000-1,200 kcal per day for adults), due to low muscle mass and inactivity. A balanced, low-calorie diet with vitamin and calcium supplementation is recommended. Regular weigh-ins and periodic diet review are needed. The best meal and snack plan is one the family or caregiver is able to apply routinely and consistently. Weight control depends on external food restriction and may require locking the kitchen and food storage areas.
My experience with a coupl of children with this suggest that the "locking the kitchen and food storage areas" advice is a major "no kidding!" suggestion.
Children with this will literally eat until no more can be stuffed inside if sufficient food is available. They are often completely indescriminate in what food they will eat...raw eggs, sticks of butter, raw bacon or hamburger, straight sugar, vanilla extract, partially rotten food - pretty much anything.
It was not uncommon to hear parents of children with this relate coming home after a major trip to the grocery store, and in returning for the last bag finding the doors to the house locked...and when they finally get inside, finding their child has eaten everything openable that they'd bought.
A Michael Moore offspring?
Kid looks a little like the Michelin man.
I am gonna have to say a prayer that he never gets near my dog, or my car for that matter, he would probably like my ex wife Velveeta, she was good at puttin on da pounds
If this were the USA, some social worker would have already been called to take custody from his parents.
Dont you believe it. I had a daughter who was 30 pounds at 7 months and is about 200 at age 11. We were vegan vegiarians when she was little. The child eats and eats. When she was a babe I tried to cut her back to no avail. She would scream for hours our primary said give her all the food she wants, she must need it. She would drink formula until she vomited.
She has been to Boston Children's and monitered by my primary. He says there is nothing I can do. There are no fun snacks and soda at our house. He feels she is prediabatic. I think she has no off switch. I would give ten years of my life to adress this issue/
The "Great Western Hope" Sumo Wrestler
He made music!
At just under two years of age, he weighed 65# and wore adult Depends.
I got a call one moring saying that he would be late for work. His boy got hold of his keyring and snapped off all his keys on the coffee table.
My employee said that he was that big at that age. When he left our company, he weighed 290# and would have been 6'2" IF he could straighten his back.
I found that there were many people like this in MA, but most didn't live past the age of 50.
My second son weighed 30 pounds at 12 months. He was off the charts. But now he's only 5'11" and weighs in around 150 pounds.
You might definitely want to look at my link on Prader-Willi Syndrome above.
Good Heavens! This poor child gives new meaning to the term baby fat.
Nah, sumo wrestler.
Has anyone asked Teddy the K for a DNA sample? Where was he 24 months ago?
