"Does anyone know what year terrorists infilitrated the US?"

I believe I read a report from Border Patrol right after 9-11 that indicated that 10% of all border crossers from the Mexican side (only) that have been apprehended since 1994 have been of middle eastern extraction. That doesn't mean they're all terrorists, but I'd guess a good number have been prepositioned into sleeper cells. A loose extrapolation of the numbers and I would guess about hundred thousand seem to have been successful.

Certainly, whatever is headed our way this summer will not see activation of all cells. That's not sound strategy or tactics. Plus we don't know how many have already been detected and caught by Homeland Security. If I had a plan for a WMD strike and I needed several "follow on" attacks in a conventional mode, like suicide bombers, or mall shootings, I'd probably activate 25% of the cells and save the rest for extended operations. AQ is known for it's ultra long range planning.

BTW, I had a wise old sergeant major when I was a young snot nosed screwey looie (Second Lieutenant) who patiently explained the difference between tactics and strategy to me: "Youngster: STRATEGY is everything you do to get the girl to go out on a date with you. TACTICS is everything you do to accomplish your goal once you pick her up for that date!" lol

A life sentence in a Turkish prison?
Wow! That could drag on for weeks, maybe even a month, depending on the location and the high daytime temperature/high tide.
And the Turkish version of the 'catch and release' program is a little different than here in the USA. People who come back seem to be different, 'changed' somehow.
Thanks for the article.

It always startles me to think that the terrorists make master plans to kill us in the same way we make 5- and 10-year plans for our lifes, futures, career, etc. The mindset of a terrorist killer is pure evil. All that careful planning and setting of goals and objectives for one murderous purpose.

Bush and the military understand the stakes, but the Dems are trying to undermine our resolve to fight the war to win.

Stakes Require Proper Handling of Terror War, Myers Says (~* good read)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1145199/posts

The stakes are high in the global war on terrorism, and if the United States doesn't handle it correctly, "I don't think we're going to like the world we'll live in in five or 10 years," Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers said today.

Myers said the free nations are in a test of wills against terrorists and their sympathizers in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. "The resolve of the American people, the will of the American people will be very important in determining the outcome," he said.

He said the global war on terrorism is a noble cause. "Like World War II, this generation is fighting this conflict against extremism," he said. "The stakes are so high, that they will change the world like our World War II generation did."

Al-Qaeda message takes a stab at Berlusconi

Independent Online 2004-05-31

Rome - Stinging comments directed at Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and attributed to al-Qaeda were widely reported in the Italian press on Monday, just days ahead of a visit to Rome by United States President George Bush.

The message, posted on an Internet site and attributed to Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin, the head of al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, claims responsibility for the bloody weekend siege at a housing complex in the eastern Saudi oil city of Al-Khobar, in which 19 foreigners and three Saudis were killed.

It says: "Among the crusaders killed there was also an Italian, whose throat was slit as a gift for the Italian government and its leader, a little stupid and arrogant, who is proud of his hostility towards Islam and of having sent troops to fight Muslims at wars like in Iraq and other countries."

The Italian, 25-year-old Antonio Amato, had recently been hired as the head cook at the upmarket Oasis housing compound in Al-Khobar. He had his throat slit along with eight other foreigners.

His death came a day after the funeral of Fabrizio Quattrocchi, a contractor who was abducted and killed two weeks ago in Iraq, where Italy has 3 000 troops in the US-led coalition.

Sergio Romano, a former ambassador, wrote in an editorial in the Corriere della Sera daily on Monday: "Whoever used this attack to address threats to the government has very likely followed the news in Italy. He knows that a large section of the political class disapproves of the presence of our troops in Iraq.

"He knows that Bush's visit could provoke hostile demonstrations. He knows that the country was very taxed by the death of Fabrizio Quattroccchi and the soldier Matteo Vanzan, and that mourning for them caused a lot of emotion. And he thinks Italy, more than other countries, is especially vulnerable."

Several radical opposition groups in Italy, which saw up to three million people in the streets of Rome in early 2003 before the war, have announced plans to demonstrate against Bush, and Interior Minsiter Giuseppe Pisanu has said he fears trouble.

The US president, expected on Friday in Rome, has asked for an audience with Pope John Paul II, who opposes the Iraq war.

Bush had to schedule his arrival earlier than planned because the pope is travelling Saturday to Switzerland. The US president will travel on to France for observances of the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Speaking of infiltration...Funny. I went to a McDonlad's today during a motorcycle cruise in the country...place was filled with black folks. No problem there I thought...except NONE were speaking English. The accent was way too strong to tell but I'm sure it was either Arabic or French.

Does ANYone care about being an AMERICAN anymore?

indeed, but Bush isn't saying it! He isn't communicating the message bluntly to the american people (sheeple). Its the independents that decide the election.

I honestly believe AQ is structuring their attacks to elect Kerry - peeling off US allies like Spain with the Madrid attacks, raising US gasoline prices with attacks targeting Saudi oil, try to sabotage the Iraqi handoff, etc. But you can't rely on the sheeple figuring this out on their own, if they are not bluntly confronted with it.

They were in a large white maxivan with a TX "Private Bus" tag on it and had what appeared to be a driver/leader type guy with them. Had to have been 15-20 people in one van.

As far as Creole, it had too much of a black accent to identify it as French. I heard nothing French in it and my sister is fluent so I know what it sounds like.
It could have been swahili for all I know for that is what it sounded like.

They sound like tourists. I don't think terrorists would drive around crammed in a white maxivan with a "private Bus" tag. The terrorist wants to blend in and not be noticed until it is too late.

Well, if it was here in Miami, I'd say it was creole and they were Haitians. But Haitians HATE anyplace colder than Miami, so that may be doubtful. Still a few hardy souls could have migrated, especially for a job. Except for their attitude of "TAKE TAKE TAKE and give nothing back to the country that feeds you" Haitians are pretty harmless and many are devout Christians.

What sort of bike do you ride? I'm waiting to save enough for a new GoldWing. I wonder if it would appeal to freepers who ride to do a long range "In Search of America" trip? That'd be so KEWL! Of course, first a motorcycle would be needed......

It is a noble cause. It is fighting for our "Freedoms"
and different from wars past, We Are Fighting Demonic
People Who Their Whole Life Has Been Focused On Killing
The Infidels In The Name Of "Allah"

Of course they want Kerry to win the election. Then
they would have an open door into this country. It's
kind of like Berg's father said "they did not know they
killed their freind" they knew they killed their friend
and it would be just like them to make the "Anti-War"
people of this country their friend only to slits their
throats too.
