Airlift of Russian army units to Far East launched
MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax)
Airlift of Land Forces units to the Far East by civilian airliners has started in Russia in the framework of a large-scale exercise, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"Two IL-86 Camber planes left the Koltsovo airfield in Yekaterinburg for the Far East today. Each carries 135 servicemen with armaments and ammunition," the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Nine more IL-76 Candid military transport planes carrying armor will leave Koltsovo for the Far East later on Thursday.
"Ten IL-76s airlifted automobiles and armored vehicles from the Koltsovo airfield to the Belaya airfield in the Khabarovsk territory on Wednesday," the spokesman noted.
A total of 800 servicemen and 100 armor pieces are to be airlifted, he said.

I agree, there's something really really wrong about this story.
Re- nukes.
IMO their plan would provide for redundancy. I believe they would plan to detonate or lob more than one nuke per target city. Recall Sean said that there were some 35 nukes in clusters of 4-5 across US cities?
I think they would probably have a nuke or two stashed in the city, and a nuke or two coming in from the water.

A friend of mine listens to NPR and told me that a few weeks ago, they were discussing the AQ nukes. Apparently it was reported that AQ had actually bought a strategic nuclear weapon from the former USSR. It was said to be in the megaton range, and had cost AQ a fortune.

A top Taiwanese defense official and an expert on the Chinese military both said yesterday Beijing is ready, willing and able to attack the island soon.
The Peoples Liberation Army has the capability to blockade Taiwan using missile-strike zones, George Washington University professor David Shambaugh told the Foreign Correspondents Club in Beijing.
The world should not be surprised if the mainland makes the move against Taiwan in 2006, he added.
"The PLA is increasingly able and willing to use a whole range of means to threaten Taiwan – electronic, naval, air, missiles, special operations," said Shambaugh. "[The PLA] has been preparing since the 1996 missile crisis to implement a spectrum of capabilities.
Re--GPS--could this be consistent with the military possibly deciding to undermine use of GPS systems by US enemies?
This would also fit with GWEN remaining activated.
I don't think China is going to wait until 2006. Chen has been too outspoken. IMO China will act very quickly to attack the ROC. IMO they will do so when the US is "occupied" elsewhere- as in responding to AQ attacks, wmd in Iraq, etc.

I fear we are facing much more than AQ. The way things are lining up, it appears to me that we are going to be at war with Russia and China.

AQ bought nukes from Pakistan.

New York Police Say E-Mail on (June 11) Subway Attack Is Hoax

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York police said on Wednesday there was no truth to an e-mail being circulated that the city's subway system would be attacked on June 11.
"The police department has received no credible threat information concerning a widely circulated e-mail message that discusses a purported subway attack allegedly planned for Friday, June 11th," Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said in a statement.
New York has been on high alert since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks when hijacked airplanes destroyed the World Trade Center and damaged the Pentagon in Washington, killing almost 3,000 people.
The e-mail, a copy of which was sent to a Reuters staffer, said city officials had received intelligence about a "possible terror attack in the city (most likely the subways) planned for this Friday."
The e-mail also said New York officials had ordered thousands of body bags and postulated that Friday's date -- June 11 -- was similar to Sept. 11 and March 11, when bombs on Madrid trains killed 191 people.
"I hope all this is bull and nothing happens this Friday or any day for that matter. One thing is for certain though, if I have to work on Friday I am taking a cab," the e-mail concluded.
Browne said the message was a computer virus that finds names in recipients' address books and spreads to other computers. He urged people not to open electronic messages from suspect or unknown senders.
Can anyone explain the last paragraph of this report? I am dumbfounded.

Military Joint Task Force exercise will take place June 12 - 21

U.S. Army officials have announced that a joint exercise involving
elements of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Special
Operations, as well as forces provided by the United Kingdom, Canada,
the Netherlands, Norway, France, Germany and Peru, will be held in an
area that spans from Smithfield in the north to Whiteville.
Officials say the "live component" exercise, which will run daily from
June 12 through June 21, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., will involve operations
throughout the several-county area.
During this period, former Sovier Union surface-to-air and
surface-to-surface launch vehicles will be moving through the countryside.
