Who: Our Wounded Troops in Iraq

What they need: Toiletries, slippers, hospital pajamas, candy, reading material, get well cards, letters of encouragement. Anything you can think of.

Who: Iraqi Children

What they need: Shoes, school supplies, toys, and anything you can think of. The ages of the children are 3 years old to 11 years old. (According to the FReepmail.)

What Is Needed: If you are someone who would prefer to send donations to another trusted FReeper who will do the shopping for you, then this is your lucky day.

OPERATION CONVOYS

Who: Our Troops (specifically those in the Transportation companies)

What Is Needed: Our Troops keeping the supply lines going are in need of basic necessities, reading material, candy, letters of encouragement, and anything else you can think of. They are sometimes unable to return back to their base of operations due to terrorist attacks or other adventurous Iraqi issues.

Brad's Gramma, Kathy In Alaska, or MoJo2001. We can give you the information to send it specifically to Iraq. (Please put Operation Convoys in the subject line.)

What Is Needed: Our media is beyond pathetic. We need people to email our Troops with words of encouragement or a simple "Thank You" or "We are thinking about you". Very simple, but very effective. If you don't have money to spare, NOT A PROBLEM. This is cheap, free, and easy. We all like that, huh?

Our Wounded Troops at Walter Reed Army Hospital & Bethesda Naval Hospital.

What Is Needed:
Magazines, pen, paper, hand held games, anything to help them pass the time while they are staying at the hospital. Pre-paid phone cards are greatly appreciated.

What Is Needed: Monetary donations for tools to help speed up things for our soldiers. Monetary donations will then be used to purchase these tools at Sears or elsewhere.

Today's FEEBLE

YOKE:

When the "Rotten Kid" was about five she and I were headed to McDonald's one day.  On the way we passed a terrible car accident.

  Usually when we see something like that, we would say a prayer for those who might be hurt.  So I pointed to the accident and said, "We should pray."

From the back seat I heard her heartfelt prayer:

  "Please, God, don't let those cars block the entrance to McDonald's."

1934 The two-day Barmen Synod ended in Germany. The resulting Barmen Declaration affirmed that the German Confessing Church recognized Jesus Christ to be the only authoritative voice of God, in clear contrast to all other (i.e., Nazi) powers representing divine revelation.
1968 Death of Martin Noth, 66, German Old Testament scholar. Noth was the first authority to note that 1&2 Samuel and 1&2 Kings contain virtually no mention of the classic prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos and Hosea.

The body of Army Pfc. Karina Lau is carried out of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Livingston, Calif., on Nov. 12. Lau died Nov. 2, along with 15 other soldiers, when their helicopter was shot down over Iraq.



Capt. Kelly O’Lear, from Ottumwa, Iowa, chaplain for 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, performs a baptism Dec. 3 at Camp Udairi, Kuwait, for Spc. Derrick Wilkerson, from Lagrange, Ga., and several other soldiers as the brigade prepares to enter Iraq.



Soldiers from Charlie Troop, 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division relax July 1 in one of the buildings they are staying at in a compound in Balad, Iraq. The troop was involved with operation Sidewinder, a mission to clear the area of people fighting America’s presence in Iraq.



Capt. Jon Cecalupo and his 2-year-old son, Josh, spend some last minutes together Nov. 8 before he heads back to Iraq after two weeks leave. Cecalupo, visiting family in Virginia, flew out of Baltimore-Washington International Airport in Linthicum, Md.
