"Causus belli."

Didn't see a word of this interview. Don't need to see anything more, I've bought my last Clancy book.

I've been on the telephone, answering questions about what you all are saying about the speech!! LOL!

And you think we aren't the NEW media.

Ha! That's so true. There should be a dozen MRCs to adequately unearth and document the nonsense that's being spewed forth every day.

THe thing I was most dissapointed in Crowley tonite what that she was dissapointed he "didn't get angry."

The President of the United States rarely has that luxury...

"I may very well try the roadie of a lifetime...January 20, 2005, in Washington D.C. for Dubya's 2nd term inauguration. I can't imagine who else's inaugural I would want to attend!"

Lots of us Freepers went to the first one and even had our own "Count The Silverwear" Ball.

You should be at the 2nd. You won't regret it.

On the last night we stood outside the White House and shouted to Clinton, "What criminals are you going to pardon?". We had no ideal how correct our chant would be.

Please join us.

"Misunderestimated" by Bill Sammon.

I just started it. The first paragraph pulls you in. The first chapter is a very detailed account of the president caught in the middle of a near riot of lefties in Portland. The second chapter is Saddam's life story. That's as far as I've gotten, but I'm hooked.

There is also a detailed accounting of the Wellstone memorial service. I had only heard references to it, and had seen none of the details. It is rather gripping.

LEST WE FORGET.
I truly support Our Brave Troops.
I Truly Support Our Mission.
I Truly Support the Liberation of Iraqi's
I Truly Emphatically Support President George W. Bush's Re-Election
I Look Forward to VT Day...Victory over Terrorist Day!
Tear Them Out!
Rip Them Apart
Eviscerate the Terrorist Scum.
Give 'em Hell Brave Troops!

President Bush summed it all up for us tonight like it is:

Terrorism is not a religion.
It is a "Totalitarian Political Ideology".

I just participated in a telephone election poll! It was recorded and I couldn't make out the poller's name, but grabbed the phone when I heard numbers to push for voting for Prez. Also had questions about pro-choice/life, gay marriage and a couple of other topics. They said the results would be out in one week. That's a first!

I'm afraid the media missed the most important thing that Bush said. Thats' too bad, but John Kerry just took it in the face. FULL SOVEREIGNTY. Not partial, not incremental, FULL SOVERIGNETY.

Thanks for explaining. I missed part of the speech, but this would have gone right over my head.

"Tom Clancy is dead broke and needs his book to sell in order to pay LOTS of money to his ex-wife."

Are you serious ? How can that be ? Hes sold zillions of books and the movie rights, too. Clancy fans tend to buy them all as soon as a new one hits the market. Thats what I've always done ... or did until now.

One of the most irritating things to me is how clueless conservatives are about PR. Did I hear one democrat criticize Kerry's boneheaded convention idea today? Nope. They all said it was leveling the playing field, strategy, blah, blah.

The President gives an important address and we get all these perfectionist Republicans who critique every darn thing about policiy and presentation. Why can't people leave a few things unsaid and emphasize the importance of what he said?

No, I did NOT imply it, I stated it plainly. Prove me wrong.

Well perhaps you are a paid attack dog of Richard Mellon Scaife, shilling for Bush on this board for a salary. Prove me wrong.

I don't actually believe that, but see how easy that slimy game is played. Cheap shot character assassinations are out of line, and that's what that is. Why not go one step further with the tinfoil, and accuse Clancy of being blackmailed by the Dems? Believe it or not, sometimes good people actually have a difference of opinion on tough issues, sometimes for no other reason than that is what they BELIEVE.

Certainly Clancy knew that supporting this book and coming on the show tonight is harmful to President Bush, so I am not thrilled with it, but OTOH I'm not going to throw him overboard just because I don't like what he said. He could have easily disparaged the President, saying that he couldn't vote for him(like so many other knee-jerk reactionary freepers cry from time to time), but he did not.

You don't know where I get my information anymore than you know where Clancy gets his.

Which is precisely why I am challenging your claiming that Clancy is a sellout. That's a serious charge.

If you don't know my statements to be untrue, then don't accuse me of such.

Nice try, but if you throw out something that sounds false, you are going to be challenged on it.This is FR, not the "Praise the Emperor's New Clothes Society."

I agree with a lot of what you post, but this is out of line. Hence I am calling you on it. Credibility is important, and there are way too many blowhard reactionaries constantly biting in whatever direction they hear something they don't like. Don't sink to that level.

Actually I have, and agree with your assessments. But we all make mistakes, and slander is ugly.

"Look, this is war. If someone goes off on my President, in my eyes he and his motives are fair game."

Did I ever tell you that I really admire you for that? This seems to be the only way to win the war against those who are compromised! (And the list gets longer by the day)

I have now watched the Bush speech. It was idealistic, and perhaps a rosy colored glass analysis, but it was informative, in a very general sort of way, and had coherence and brevity. It was better than average for Bush. I have it a "B." I stand by the comments though that the sovereignty thing is cosmetic. It almost perforce has to be. The interim government really has no local legitimacy. It was hand picked by foreigners.

Thank you!, Your response to my question!!!! "What is he afraid of" is not what I think he is afraid of, I believe John Kerry is afraid of a very simple and unanswerable question from any of the REAL Heroes, (I so fortunately have had the opportunity to visit at Walter Reed Hospital), is that he could be asked, in the presence of the media .......................

"WHY" ?

Cheers, and God bless!,

Mike

Apparently the UN guy is interviewing tribal chiefs and ethnic groups getting recommendations. So it really isn't hand-picked by foreigners (although I think we can safely assume that Sadr is not on the short list).

I think KGO is broadcasting the speech, they usually do. It's SF but they don't get over the top liberal until later.

Next time try KSFO 560 AM -- it's our kind of station. :O)

I am sure Sadr isn't, but an interim government that is truly "representative" would have him there. Of course, he is a wanted criminal, under Iraqi law, such as it is. But the point, is that those selected I strongly suspect are selected in order to give the whole rather Rube Goldberg exercise a chance to succeed against all odds. And that is how it should and must be.
