They were calling to tell me that they were calling to get George W. Bush out of Washington. Talked about the economy,the environment and blah! blah! blah! about everything else he was handling wrong, etc.

Then, the lady said she wanted to know if they could count on me to support the DNC to get the word out to get Bush out of the White House.

Well I listened quietly and politely to let her finish her spill, but with that, it was MY turn to talk!:

"NO WAY !!" I told her. I told her I was voting straight ticket GOP and there was NO WAY I would ever vote for a Democrat .... 'not this year, not ANY year, not in ANY election EVER' would I vote for a Democrat. I told her that I voted for Bush in 1994 and 1998 for Governor and in 2000 for President and that I would vote for him AGAIN this year. "Oh, well you're very devoted to him, I can tell" she said. "We've obviously got a mixup on this side" by calling my phone number ! LOL !!! Obviously so, lady, LOL !

I finished my comments by telling her to make sure she tells all her friends at the DNC what I told her.

BTW...as to the level of Socialism you support...how much is enuff?! We've got a $2.5 Trillion Federal budget that gobbles up almost 25% of our Gross Domestic Product. Is that not enough? As fer me, I'd like to see Federal Spending as a percentage of GDP drop by 1% per year until we get to 8%-10% by, say, 2016. If such an undertaking was attempted, you can count on sustained economic of up to 5%-6% per year fer about a dozen years, making the cuts almost painless.

A good friend of mine (an inlaw) is a life-long Democrat. He and I were flying at 14,000 feet in *his* plane when the subject of John Kerry's war record came up. He and I were the only ones in the plane.

At the outset of this conversation, (he is a good Christian man) I asked him how familiar he was with the DNC party platform for 2004.

I asked him if he endorsed abortion, homosexuality, legalizing gay marriage via a constitutional amendment (among other things) and that those items were central to the DNC platform.

He renounced each of those things but ended his statement that he voted for George Bush Sr and would never vote for another Republican for the rest of his life for the lie Bush told on not raising taxes during his tenure (read my lips).

He then blasted me with the fact that both the House and the Senate are controlled by Republicans and that they have not held up to even the promises they made to their fellow Republicans (much of that is true).

We had about an hour left in our flight and it went by as if that hour were five minutes - we were in mortal combat at 14000 feet over J-FK, Iraq, Medicaire, border control, abortion, homosexuality, gay marriage, the military, Bill and Hillary and finally GWB.

We both got out of the plane still respecting one another, but painfully aware it would be a miracle we would ever see eye-to-eye on politics in our lifetime.

We are still good friends.
