"You likely meant the Confederate battle flag and not the Stars and Bars. There is a difference."

Yes there is, unbeknowst to me.
Thanks for setting me straight, Sultan.
Not only won't I make that mistake again, but, I learned something, too. ;^)

"Re: this Sam character. Mud does attract the oddballs, doesn't he."

Yup, too many for my tastes; but, to each his own I suppose.

"I think he likes to toy with them like a cat does with a mouse."

HA!!
Yea well the boy better be careful he doesn't find himself playing jester to the clown; which, is a very real danger when dealing with a louse the likes of that creep.
I mean, "truth's" not what the asshole comes here for, is it?

Beyond all that though, I have this feeling -- as I already implied -- the Old Man doesn't care for that sort on his site, so, what concerns me is him arriving at a similar conclusion to mine?
Means it won't be the troll who winds-up on his shit list, OK?

Believe me, I couldn't -- possibly -- care less who Mud does or doesn't associated with.
None of my business and, it is after all his time to waste as he sees fit, isn't it?

"Sam is probably as harmless as MurryMom but he is good at repartee."

"Harmless"?
This asshole & a few million like him are f*cking up the Republic the best they can & you find that "harmless"?
I disagree, vehemently.

"Might be amusing to have him around."

Yea sure, might not for some of us too, eh?
I mean these Liberal-Socialist brainstems are all the same, same shtick, virtually defining banality.
Anyway, you have a ball with the clown, but I'm outa here.
Besides, I smell the electrical scent of ozone.
This area's not *safe*. :o)

"I was talking to my sister-in-law from PA about the election. (She is totally uninformed, but could always be counted on to vote my way.) She informed me that she would never vote for Bush, because she heard on the TV news the other day that Bush had messed up the economy and was responsible for us losing the Iraq War."

Ahhhhh what the hell Sultan, harmeless.
Right?

"DUH??"

That's precisely my response (to you) when I think her vote would negate mine? ;^)

"Knowing reason would fail, I simply said, 'Well, I can't support anyone that favors gay marriages.'"

See, that's a trick I've never learned to pull off on dimwitted ones.
My hat's off to you, Sir.

"She replied that she was appalled at gay people getting married. Told her Kerry supported it; she's now back in the Bush column."

Geewhiz that seemed almost too easy, huh. <\sarc>
Of course there's plenty of time for lice like ol' "Sam" to lie to her 'bout that, turning her right back around? :o)
Of course mebad, the Liberal-Socialists would never lie, would they.

"And of course I agree - these types like my SIL should have NEVER been given access to a voting ballot."

HA!!
Ya read my mind, didn'tcha?

...really hope you're feeling well, guy.

1) Avoidance.

Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black. Who's the one who can't be bothered to back their claims in this discussion again?

2) Selectivity.

I've addressed everybody who's said anything to me so far, so this doesn't apply.

3) Coincidental.

I'm only here as a guest of Mud to defend Kerry, not as a troll, so this doesn't apply either.

4) Teamwork.

Um, team? Where are you? It's time to come and help me now, I'm outnumbered five-to-one here...team? =)

5) Anti-conspiratorial.

Well, it's true that I don't tend to go for conspiracy theories, unless there's ample, irrefutable evidence to back it up. But we're not talking about conspiracy theories now...or are we?

6) Artificial Emotions.

No false emotions here. In fact, you seem intent on projecting emotions on me that I don't have. And the only thing I've denied is "evidence" that doesn't pass simple benchmarks of logic.

7) Inconsistent.

Okay, okay, so I couldn't back up the AOL article I cited earlier. I did retract that statement, though, so it isn't fair to say this applies either.

8) BONUS TRAIT: Time Constant

You got me -- I was bored yesterday and did some rapid-fire posting. It tends to happen when you have four or five people debating with you. I have a project deadline staring me in the face tho, so I promise you won't hear that much from me today.

Unless, of course, you can't overcome your itch to have the last word...=)

"The persistence & dedication of the careless & brave would astound you."

Of the brave, no.
Of the careless, yes.

"Steve, however, is growing weary of the 'excitement'."

You'rrrrre kidding!
Could it have something to do with the fatigue of rowing your dead-in-the-water tub several miles before rescue?
Might.
(~your young man's the "Gifted One" of the clan my friend, taking after his mother who -- apparently -- no longer accompanies you on the "shakedown runs.")

Believe me when I tell you: if it ever happens to us while we're out past the break-water?
I'm kicking back, taking a slug of my Jack Daniels' sippin' whiskey & enjoying the scenery.
When a surly USCG finally shows up looking to pike a head, I'll simply gesture (with my thumb) in your direction, "Captain". {g}

"He keeps muttering, 'I wish it wouldn't do that...'"

HA!!
Well he's only articulating what his Dad's thinking I'd imagine, right?

Y'know what that makes the boy, don'tcha?

...just a chip off the ol' block. {BIG G}

"...why are you against gay people getting married?"

Marriage is the holy union between one man and one woman, always has been, always will be. I've got no problem with two men or two women pledging their everlasting love to each other, but it ain't a "marriage." A marriage is what it is...period.

If gay couples want to exchange vows, call it something else--how 'bout "coupling"?--and then go about the process of attaching whatever legal rights gays feel they are being denied to the term "coupling". I'll tell you right now that I'm against gays adopting, but I don't see where other rights can't be passed on relatively quickly.

What you say is true. I've said all I intend to say. I simply wanted everyone here to see that we had him pegged.

If they continue to push the envelope, the ignorance and arrogance of the liberal left will lead to much more than idle talk.

Little late in finding this, but I thought it was worth posting...

In honor of Memorial Day, here are some interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Sentinels of the Third United States Infantry Regiment "Old Guard."

1. How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the tomb of the Unknowns and why?
21 steps. It alludes to the twenty-one gun salute, which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.

2. How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why?
21 seconds, for the same reason as answer number 1.

3. Why are his gloves wet?
His gloves are moistened to prevent his losing his grip on the rifle.

4. Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time, and if not, why not?
No, he carries the rifle on the shoulder away from the tomb. After his march across the path, he executes an about face and moves the rifle to the outside shoulder.

5. How often are the guards changed?
Guards are changed every thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.

6. What are the physical traits of the guard limited to?
For a person to apply for guard duty at the tomb, he must be between 5' 10" and 6' 2" tall and his waist size cannot exceed 30".

The shoes are specially made with very thick soles to keep the heat and cold from their feet. There are metal heel plates that extend to the top of the shoe in order to make the loud click as they come to a halt. There are no wrinkles, folds or lint on the uniform. Guards dress for duty in front of a full-length mirror.

The first SIX MONTHS of duty a guard cannot talk to anyone, nor watch TV.
All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery . A guard must memorize who they are and where they are interred. Among the notables are: President Taft, Joe E. Lewis {the boxer} and Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, {the most decorated soldier of W.W.II} of Hollywood fame. Every guard spends FIVE HOURS A DAY getting his uniforms ready for guard duty.

After TWO YEARS, the guard is given a wreath pin that is worn on their lapel signifying they served as guard of the
tomb. There are only 400 presently worn.

More Interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknowns itself:

The marble for the Tomb of the Unknowns was furnished by the Vermont Marble Company of Danby , Vt. The marble is the finest and whitest of American marble, quarried from the Yule Marble Quarry located near Marble, Colorado and is called Yule Marble. The Marble for the Lincoln memorial and other famous buildings was also quarried there.

The Tomb consists of seven pieces of rectangular marble:
Four pieces in sub base; weight Â- 15 tons;
One piece in base or plinth; weight Â- 16 tons;
One piece in die; weight Â- 36 tons;
One piece in cap; weight Â- 12 tons;
Carved on the East side (the front of the Tomb, which faces Washington, DC)
is a composite of three figures,
commemorative of the spirit of the Allies of World War I.

In the center of the panel stands Victory (female).

On the right side, a male figure symbolizes Valor.

On the left side stands Peace, with her palm branch to reward the devotion and sacrifice that went with courage to
make the cause of righteousness triumphant.

The north and south sides are divided into three panels by Doric pilasters.
In each panel is an inverted wreath.

On the west, or rear, panel (facing the Amphitheater) is inscribed:

HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN BUT TO GOD

The first Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was a sub base and a base or plinth.
It was slightly smaller than the present base. This was torn away when the present Tomb was started Aug. 27, 1931 .
The Tomb was completed and the area opened to the public 9:15 a.m. April 9, 1932, without any ceremony.

Cost of the Tomb: $48,000
Sculptor: Thomas Hudson Jones
Architect: Lorimer Rich
Contractors: Hagerman & Harris , New York City
Inscription: Author Unknown

Interesting...MUD

Wow, who woulda thunk it? You have the same position on gay marriage as Kerry. I'm going to have to send you a Liberal Starter Kit pretty soon! =P

Personally, I'm to the left of Kerry on this issue. Marriage is a sin in Christianity, but not all marriages are Christian (plus, marriage was an institution before Christianity was a religion). So a non-Christian ceremony is fine, or even a common law marriage.

If you allow them to marry but make them call it something different, you're opening up the whole "separate but equal" terms that fueled racial discrimination before the civil rights movement. (For example, giving them health insurance benefits, but giving them less coverage for so-called "gay diseases" such as AIDS). Call a spade a spade and let them get "married", I say.

My last words to you will be in November, when we crush you and your fellow communists into the ground.

Oh good. I was wondering when we were going to get to the name-calling. They're the last resort of those without a factual response to arguments. I don't know about your "disinformationalist" list, but to me, the first sign of a troll is when they start hurling the epithets.

So tell me, how do you know I'm a communist? Did you get your hands on McCarthy's black list? Or is this just another one of your gross generalizations?

Again.

Well, it has been 16 years since you won a presidential election outright, but OK.

"...you're opening up the whole "separate but equal" terms that fueled racial discrimination before the civil rights movement."

It's not "equal" 'cuz it's different...just like back before I was married, I had housemates, what would keep me from demanding that I get covered on their health care plan, or they on mine? It's silly..."marriage" is between one man and one woman...PERIOD!!
