indeed, that is the key now - finding the depot where this one came from. it must be part of a set of them that was buried, now dug up by the insurgents to use in IEDs. We must find that depot.

Is anybody here good at hacking websites. I would love to take over CNN.com, place one of Drudge's sirens on the page with the headline:

"Bush Was Right! We Were Wrong! WMDs in Iraq!"

"Not looking good fortune in the mouth, so to speak, but supposedly, that is enough sarin to kill several thousand people. Why was this stuff such a dud?"

This needs to be trumpeted in press conferences ad infinitum.

The liberal press must be countered, hard and heavy. Bush is a good communicator when he decides to be, but for the most part his communication is extremely poor, IMHO.

I'm tired of this "kinder, gentler" approach, like when he said Nick's Berg's beheading was, "Not justified, in any way." Forceful? No. Whining? Sounded like it to me.

That is correct from what I have read. The two binary agents are separated in the shell by some kind of barrier that breaks when the munition is fired from the launcher, mixes while in flight and is released as Sarin upon detonation.

Being a binary shell they didn’t know it had to be fired from a cannon to make the two components mix.

Down Fido. There was no call for an attack. Dawn53 said, "realtively few". That means, relative to the damage that could have done. It does not minimize, or discount the damage, and deaths that did happen.

I didn't attack just putting out a fact, unless you think that thousands(and I already know in my intial post, I stated "hundreds") being affected by sarin, is "reletively few", that's your opinion, which you are entitled to have.

I wonder how hard it would be for an iraqi insurgent to get his filthy hands on a 155mm howitzer to shoot the thing properly. Or how expensive it would be to buy one on the black market. Nasty thoughts but the sheep need to use their imaginations a bit more to see the danger in this. Bad parade day if it ever happened.

I was surprised to hear NPR on the radio this am mention the shell with chemical weapons in it, but or course they didnt even mention is was rigged as an IED to blow up on US soldiers.

They implied it was just found laying around on the ground somewhere.

The Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway was an act of domestic terrorism perpetrated by members of AUM Shinrikyo in 1995. In five coordinated attacks, AUM members released sarin gas on several lines of the Tokyo Subway, killing 12 people and injuring some 6000 more. This is the most serious terrorist attack that has ever occurred in Japan's modern history.

The liquid sarin was contained in plastic bags which each team then wrapped in newspapers. Each perpetrator carried two packets of sarin totalling approximately 1 litre of sari, except Hayashi Yasuo, who carried three bags. A single drop of sarin the size of the head of a pin can kill an adult (see sarin).

Carrying their packets of sarin and umbrellas with sharpened tips, the perpetrators boarded their appointed trains; at prearranged stations, each perpetrator dropped his package and punctured it several times with the sharpened tip of his umbrella before escaping to his accomplice's waiting get-away car.

You know I've been having similarly nasty thoughts. Also, aren't we detonating some ordnance we find? That would be a very VERY bad "oops".

Right. And was it NPR or Peter Jennings I heard say it was a "trace" amount?

To look at this another way...

How many shells were looked at by both our people and the UN and assumed to be HE, but are actually chemical weapons? Unless you actually take the shell apart or weigh it, there is no way to tell. A visual inspection isn't enough.

Something to think about, Mr. Blix, eh?

By casualties, I was speaking of deaths.

I unnderstand that, but do you think that CNN would do a follow up on the tragedy that happened on a day in spring in 1995 on a Tokyo subway.

I doubt it. They(CNN,liberal media) wish to downplay the effects of that event.

"Lethal dose of Sarin: 0.5 milligrams.
Density: 1.089 g/cm3
Grams per liter: 1,089g
Lethal doses per liter: 2,178,000
Lethal doses of sarin contained in this shell: 6,534,000 to 8,712,000"

Just damn...

A reminder, to all the elites (who wouldn't be on FR anyway, except to troll)...

The "mass" in WMD does NOT refer to the number of weapons...it's not "weapons of mass weapons".

It stands for masses of people. Masses of living things. And somehow I don't think that you'd want to eat anything that this stuff touches.

8 million people dead sounds like a hell of a lot of MASS to me...

Also, would it make sense that we don't have to wait for those people to die before those weapons "massively destroy" them??? Oh yeah...doctrine of preemption, bad.

And so WMd's come off the political table, as has the economy, for the coming elections in November.

As bad as the past few weeks have been for the President, Kerry's campaign hasn't gained any notable ground. This just adds to the list of reasons the Democrats were screeching about for the past year....that is no longer viable as an issue.

They will continue to bray about WMD's, but like the economy, it isn't an issue which will get Americans to change Administrations.

When we find more Sarin, we should donate it to those sacred, supposedly untouchable mosques that have turned into insurgent barracks and arms depots. The mosques would not be harmed.
