In my definition, nuclear weapons are the only WMDs.That has to be the stupidist statment ever made on Freerepublic. Who cares what you think should be under the WMD list, reality states otherwise.

This account has been banned or suspendedWell thank the Lord! FINALLY!

O.K. that makes some sense. So the next question is how long does is sarin potent for and why were we so anxious to get the last of Saddams stocks of it destroyed if it was degrading so fast? Were we not ourselves having a difficult time of destroying our own Chemical weapons left over from WWII and Vietnam? They are still potent enough to be very dangerous.

Are there long term effects of Sarin?

yes.
IIRC: chronic weakness and fatigue, motor-nerve dysfunction, higher incidence of various forms of cancer, genetic damage leading to birth defects and lethal mutations, weakened immune system.

This is why JohnGalt was banned for life? I have 11 suspensions for much more than that!
Keep copies of this.

Halabja? That atrocity was committed in 1988. Our government at the time almost tried to blame it on Iran instead of Sadaam.

But Saddamn did it. And sarin was one of the weapons used. Which is what I was attempting to point out to JG.
To: mewzilla
But isn't it disengenuous to use the Halabja atrocity from 1988 as some sort of justification for this war or as proof of WMDs? We knew Sadaam was using these weapons daily against Iran in it's war back in the 80's? Somehow the fact that he had chemical weapons is a big deal today? A reason for war?
Sorry- not buying it. This is the report Powell gave to the UN:
http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2003/17300.htm
We justified this war on a heck of a lot more than chemical filled artillery shells.

Sure we did. But he still had the WMDs. And we still need to find them.
To: mewzilla
The hand picked man of the President- David Kay- has said that we were wrong about Sadaam and the WMDs. We have how many of Sadaam's scientists in custody? How many of his top generals and goons? Not one of them will tell us where they are? Not one of them wants a nice new life in America with a small house and white picket fence?
No. Sorry. If there were stockpiles of this stuff or advanced programs we would have found them a long time ago and loudly proclaimed so to the world.
