"That is a point that is not being explained.
People expect to see piles of weapons such as in WWI or WWII, it's as if they don't get the meaning of SUITCASE BOMB!!!"

...or "shoe bomb".

IIRC, 9-11 involved neither...

I could care less how impressed you are that sarin can be made by anyone with the ingredients and know-how.

I DO care that you're trying to sidline the issue from the real significance :

This was one of Saddam's mass manufactured WMD, made to be fired from a 155mm Howitzer - not exactly as easy for the home wacko to manufacture in his garage. Saddam is known to have had them. The UN demanded Saddam report what he did with his weapons stockpiles.

Saddam said in his 10,000 page report to the UN the stockpile of that particular 155mm Howitzer shell, specially manufactured to be a WMD, was destroyed before the Gulf War. That he no longer had them. He still had them.

http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/sarin/basics/facts.asp

Immediate signs and symptoms of sarin exposure

* People may not know that they were exposed because sarin has no odor.

* People exposed to a low or moderate dose of sarin by breathing contaminated air, eating contaminated food, drinking contaminated water, or touching contaminated surfaces may experience some or all of the following symptoms within seconds to hours of exposure:

* Runny nose
* Watery eyes
* Small, pinpoint pupils
* Eye pain
* Blurred vision
* Drooling and excessive sweating
* Cough
* Chest tightness
* Rapid breathing
* Diarrhea
* Increased urination
* Confusion
* Drowsiness
* Weakness
* Headache
* Nausea, vomiting, and/or abdominal pain
* Slow or fast heart rate
* Low or high blood pressure

* Even a small drop of sarin on the skin can cause sweating and muscle twitching where sarin touched the skin.

* Exposure to large doses of sarin by any route may result in the following harmful health effects:

* Loss of consciousness
* Convulsions
* Paralysis
* Respiratory failure possibly leading to death

* Showing these signs and symptoms does not necessarily mean that a person has been exposed to sarin.

What the long-term health effects are

Mild or moderately exposed people usually recover completely. Severely exposed people are not likely to survive.

Unlike some organophosphate pesticides, nerve agents have not been associated with neurological problems lasting more than 1 to 2 weeks after the exposure.

"And logically, if we discover Saddam had active programs the revised line will be, 'No indication they were going to use them.' Bet on it!"

Oh, I believe you. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that while the sarin shell might be proof Saddam did still possess them, there's no proof he never meant to use them on US troops when he threatened to use them on US troops.

Why hasn't the Bush adminstration done more to get the word out about this?

I thought Kay said he DID have active programs and that the situation was actually even more dangerous than we had thought even though the stockpiles were not found. And that nobody wanted to hear that. The MSM spun the Kay report as giving Saddam a clean bill of health.

"Why hasn't the Bush adminstration done more to get the word out about this?"

Because finding the stockpiles, tallying them up and destroying them before more terrorists get hold of them is more important than a PR stunt.

Drudge has a no-link blurb that Blix says "not evidence of WMD"... what the hell could that mean Hans? A is A or not A. "A" just blew up in two gi's faces.

You mean along the lines of, "I actually said I was going to use them before I said I wasn't going to use them"?

True.
But I was referring to 'full' briefings (for a better lack of a term), like the now famous PDB's.

If you recall during the recount baloney, Klintoon wouldn't brief Dubya on National Security issues until the election results were official. I think he said in the effect that 'it wouldn't be fair to Gore'. And so Willard didn't brief either of their teams. But since Gore was in the administration anyway, it was really just a ploy to hurt Dubya's transition team.

I guess this discovery totally vindicates the administration in their WMD claims before the war?

And without a complex delivery system it is hardly a WMD. A fertilizer truck bomb is more deadly.

Yes, and those in the military understand this.

" WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT about this is that it marks an escalation in the war. The enemy combatants have used WMD on the US and its allies for the first time."

Great observation.
Let's hope that Ayman al Zawarhiri doesn't have access to similar shells.
However, don't hold your breath waiting for the fossil era media to come to the same conclusion.
They were still talking about Iraqis with panties on their head and claims that Donald Rumsfeld ordered it-at the top of the hour on CNN.

Blix and Kay say this doesn't count.

"Two former weapons inspectors — Hans Blix and David Kay — said the shell was likely a stray weapon that had been scavenged by militants and did not signify that Iraq had large stockpiles of such weapons. "
