I also have taken a room occassionally for a myriad of reasons, it really needs to be considered our rights could be violated.

I'm having a new kitchen put in next month and I expect to spend three weeks in a local hotel during the construction. I guess that makes me a "meth maker."

If you're going to be put out for 3 weeks, try to find some of the extended stay apartments. They have much better rates than typical overnight motels. I patronized one of those places for 5 weeks at a time while doing some contract work in San Diego. Many areas hit you with a transient occupancy tax that is refunded completely on your 31st consecutive day. In San Diego, that tax was about $11.00 per day. Nice rebate.
