Terrorist threats make control of Internet more important - UN ICT Task Force Official
Shanghai. (Interfax China) - The threat of terrorism has made it more important for nations to control the flow of information through the Internet, United Nations ICT Task Force Deputy Executive Coordinator Sergei Kambalov told Interfax during an interview at the 4th Annual Forum for City Informatization in the Asia Pacific Region (CIAPR), held in Shanghai.
The UN ICT Task Force will host a special meeting during the CIAPR this week to discuss Internet governance in the Asia Pacific region, during which delegates from countries in the region will discuss taxation, the digital divide and censorship of the internet. Kambalov believed it was also possible that delegates would discuss China's policies for controlling the flow of information over the Internet.
