"You got the symptoms right. In adults though, the symptoms are exaggerated. Fever lasts longer, longer recovery time, etc."

Thats an understatement! It is life threatening for adults. I got it at the age of 35, kidneys nearly shut down, skin peeled off my hands and feet. Definitely far more than exaggerated....

I agree, the brainstorming and resourcefulness, creativity, analysis etc. on this thread is awesome.

I think SOMEONE ought to know someone

or

know someone who knows someone high enough in HOMELAND SECURITY that our ideas could be routinely entered into the system at a helpful level in a helpful way.

HOW ABOUT IT????

Good for you......

Be sure that you have a drop close to your pillow or on it at bedtime, you will sleep so much better.

It can burn if used to often on the skin.

Simply take the cap off and smell it for 3 or 4 deep breaths for a tranquilizer, or for coughing.

N.J. Teacher Reprimanded For Inviting Students To Watch Beheading

POSTED: 1:58 pm EDT May 19, 2004

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A high school teacher who invited students to watch a tape of the beheading of an American in Iraq after a classroom discussion has been reprimanded.

David Trethaway, superintendent of the Central Regional High School district, said the unidentified social studies teacher made the offer Friday after a current events class in which the execution of Nick Berg was discussed. The video was on an Internet site and the teacher allowed students to watch it on his classroom computer, but made it clear they were not obligated to view it.

"It was poor judgment," Trethaway said, adding that a letter of reprimand had been placed in the veteran teacher's file and no further disciplinary action was planned.

Trethaway said the matter came under review after a parent called the Ocean County school on Monday and asked about the incident. He said the teacher cooperated with administrators in the review.

JoJo I was rummaging through the Harvard Asteroid site that you posted and this is what I found for 2004:

PHA Close Approaches To The Earth

The following table lists the predicted encounters by Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) to within 0.05 AU of the earth from the start of this year through 2178. Objects with very uncertain orbits are excluded from this listing, as are recently discovered objects whose orbits have been computed without consideration of planetary perturbations. The distances quoted are from the nominal orbit solutions in the cited references and can be quite uncertain, particularly for one-opposition objects. Perturbed orbital solutions consider perturbations by eight major planets (Mercury to Neptune), three minor planets (Ceres, Pallas and Vesta) and treat the earth and the moon as separate perturbing bodies. For comparison, the mean distance of the moon is 0.0026 AU = 384400 km = 238900 miles. (1 AU is approximately the mean distance of the earth from the sun = 149597870 km = 92955810 miles.)

Object (and name) Date of encounter (TT)

4179) Toutatis ----- 2004 Sept.29.57

25143) Itokawa ----- 2004 June 26.83

1999 MN ----- 2004 July 11.06

2001 US16 ----- 2004 May 8.68

2004 FJ11 ------ 2004 May 24.17

Anyway, I did a search for Itokawa(which is the named asteroid scheduled for June 26, 2004)and I have no way of showing the image of how close this asteriod will be to Earth you will need to go to this link to see it...really unbelievable! Link Here for Asteroid viewer

ME TOO!

SIGH.

Have Norton System works and Firewall 2004 for XP-P; 1.X gighz; 1.x Gigabytes RAM etc.

Still, somehow some virus program got my addy and is sending stuffy out to at least one friend.

I update almost daily.

I also have Adaware scan for that and another scanning program for problems.

Still, my Explorer 6.0 will often hang and not ever finish loading many sites.

Sigh.

Wrestled with Opera and Mozilla. They caused problems, too.

Wheeeee.

Scanning with Norton again now--which takes 1-3 hours with so many gigabytes.

My problem is my Operating system. I eat up my resources with multiple browsers open. I'm gonna have to bit the bullet and upgrade soon. But that will open another can of worms with outdated drivers for older items I have running.

Sometimes, I wish we could marry all the spammers to Bill G--I think they deserve each other given all the hassles they have needlessly caused so many millions of people!

Wheee.

Mystery Illness/Parasites Said To Be Afflicting Idahoans

May 18, 2004 By Jon Hanian

Boise, ID - Nampa resident Rebecca Hewitt doesn't like talking about it because she usually starts crying when she does.

..... Rebecca's hair started falling out in patches. Her joints started swelling. She started getting lesions on her skin. "I was breaking out in boils." But perhaps the most unnerving part -- mysterious particles she calls parasites with fiber -like filaments started appearing creating stinging and crawling sensations underneath her skin. "It is like a cottony fiber on your skin. It is really hard to explain. You get scared. You are afraid that it is going to take your life."

So Rebecca went to nine different doctors for help. Most of them diagnosed her as delusional. "So then you have this whole issue of 'don't tell anyone', you know. It is very emotional and it is a very mental disease because no one will listen to you." But it is not just people in the Treasure Valley who are complaining about this thing. In the eastern Idaho rural farming community of Preston, we found another individual who claims to be afflicted by the same parasite.

"It all sounds crazy and it is crazy," says 44-year-old Daryl Crockett, a carpenter who says he is unable to work because of chronic fatigue and other neurological symptoms. He says he suffers from similar lesions on his body and swelling in his lower legs and joints. "They are just full of parasites."

He showed us numerous tiny specks on his skin. The specks are hard to see until you zoom in. Crockett believes they are a form of parasite associated with his symptoms. Crockett showed us a vial full of what he believes are the parasites infecting his body. "This is just a fraction of them. I could have brought a whole jug full........"
