Tell me about it. Yesterday I was driving near Van Nuys airport watching this woman in a convertible Miata in front of me having a really hard time staying in her lane. I saw the rearview mirror directed at her and she kept fiddling with her hair, I was thinking she had something in her eye. When I pulled up next to her on my way to pass her I looked over and saw not only was she staring at herself in the mirror while she was driving, she was talking on the cellphone, laughing.

Typical L.A.: watching herself talking on the cellphone while driving a miata. Ugh. These are the people that will no doubt run into me if something bad happens and I have to get out of Dodge

Fewer than 6 percent of ports comply with U.N. security measures, official says

SINGAPORE (AP) -- Fewer than 6 percent of the world's seaports and ships adhere to United Nations rules aimed at preventing terrorist attacks, the head of the U.N.'s maritime agency said Tuesday.

The U.N.'s International Maritime Organization said it would begin enforcing the International Ship and Port Security code when it takes effect July 1, which could disrupt shipping.

"Ships will be detained," said Efthimios Mitropoulos, the agency's secretary general. "There will be disruption."

The code, adopted after the Sept. 11 attacks to protect ports and vessels from terrorism, requires port staff and ships' crews to conduct regular anti-terror drills, restrict the number of weapons and visitors aboard vessels and have attack contingency measures in place.

Commercial vessels are also required to submit security plans to the maritime agency.

Mitropoulos said only 301 of about 5,500 port facilities comply with the security code.

Two Buses Have Been Recovered

NEW YORK (CBS) CBS 2 has learned three buses were stolen from the busy Port Authority Bus Terminal on 42nd Street and it has authorities worried about a possible terrorist threat.

Two of the buses were found in Irvington and a suspect was arrested. Officials say this particular incident was not terrorist related.

But what has them worried is how easy it was for the buses to be taken. Officials say if the suspect could do it, anybody could.

The thefts happened over the past two weeks.

“This individual went to the Port Authority, actually got on the bus which was unoccupied. There was a clipboard with a key in the bus, took the key started the bus and drove off,” explains Union County Prosecutor Ted Romankov.

Officials say they're working on a system to make it harder to start the buses. And they are still looking for the third bus.

I think that's seriously true. May even be a factor with my 81 year old step dad.

1) The WOT is not tidily done up in a 30-60 min TV show. Therefore, we can't handle it.

2) The WOT has real blood and gore. In spit of our horror movie conditioning, we still can't handle reality on a lot of levels. Alcohol as anesthetic only goes so far for so many.

3) There's too little viable authentic Christian spirituality substrate/foundation to carry us forward into the storm dealing with reality on a realistic level. Even masses of Christians are, in addition to playing church, pretending that they have a functional relationship with God, they are also going through the motions of relating authentically with their families as they run the materialistic rat race and try to keep up with bro & sis Jones.

We were at another conservative news site together, for a L-O-N-G time. We came over to FR at the same time. We've been here since. We've been on a long running thread together since our joining FR. It's over in the chat section and is alot of fun.

Nully is one of the most intelligent people I've ever known. He is super smart, genius level, and that is fact.
He doesn't say a whole lot, ever. Can sum things up in one sentence what it takes me a page to try to say.

I think we need way more Indie's and Nully's in the World.

And it's probably the case with my Dem mom. My dad says she's "more conservative than (I) think", which I still wonder about. Last time we visited (she lives on 80 acres in OR), she spent the visit half watching Looney Tunes. No joke. It's like she can't believe what is going on in the world and doesn't want to know about it. When we flipped to the news while they were out on an errand, she came back, saw it and started grumbling. She's perfectly content to watch her dramas, soaps, and Oprah in her free time. I love her but I worry that she seems to want the blinders. Politics and religion and the WoT are not topics we discuss.
